Vw Bug?

i was driving to work today and saw a Vw GLX Turbo bug that was trying to make me race today. I was going too but... i just installed an exedy clutch and trying to break it in. So how fast are they? I have an sh with bolt ons and vafc and cam gears.

From what I'm told, they go from super slow w/o turbo to o.k. with. Stock Lude should take it.

capable or not, i could never hold my head up high in a vw bug. especially with that *** stock flower vase in the console. a kid i went to school with had one when we were in high school... and i think driving that bug scarred him for life. poor kid.

I looked it up. The turbo beetle is about 16.4 1/4 mi. It'll keep up with a 4cyl probe and the such. Nothing wrong with a stock flower vase btw... as long as you are a girl.

I'm not a fan of the newer bugs. now the older bugs, I love them. I had a 69 beetle that would wax 99% of cars on the road. *no bud vase* I think my best time at rockingham dragway was 12.20. I'd have to find the slip though. I sold it to get my prelude though. newer technology, AC. lol. I love my prelude.

oh, and the newer beetle, you should take him, if he's stock.

yeah. the engines are very easy to work on * I can drop the engine out of a bug in 25-35 min, and just a lil more to get it back in* . very easy to build. parts are relatively cheap for them. it is very easy to get 160 hp out of a bug engine, NA, and still be reliable. and in a 1700 lb car, *that's without weight reduction* that equals a pretty fast car.

this winter, I am planning on building another bug. if I do the work myself, the motor should cost me around 4000. that is for a complete engine. if I have it built by the guy who built my last engine, it will be about 5500. this bug will have carbon fiber fenders and hood, no back seat and some other weight reduction. if my guesses are correct, it should run low 11's, high 10's in the 1/4 . i'm anxious to get started on this project.
