The SS strikes again... Prelude vs. New Eclipse

On my way to Dallas to begin the 5spd swap at Billy's, I see a black eclipse coming up behind me (I'm going 80-85 already). So I figure he wants a taste of my sport shift.

We navigate through traffic and find an open straight. I shift into 3rd as he is coming up on me and begin to slowly leave him as I switch into 4th. The difference isn't much, but for 50 miles of slowdown - speed up - cat and mouse. He never is able to pass even at 120 mph and up.

I'm not sure what type of eclipse it was, but it's the new body style. I didn't figure out the model type since I never saw the back of him.

I forgot to mention I had a full tank and a car full of parts like an extra transmission. Imagine what the outcome would be without the weight or with the 5spd.

The only reasoning for this kill is from Doug, who basically said the new eclipses have supposedly alot of power, but they weigh too much.

At least my automatic had a good final run before never being used again.

Well, sounds like a nice run

GS Model 2.4 L HP: 162 @ 6000 TQ: 162 @ 4000
GT Model 3.8 L HP: 263 @ 5750 TQ: 260 @ 4500

Wow, bigger engine no power

well we can't confirm if it was a gs or gt

in a straightline (5spd or auto) the GT should have taken him. but if it was a gs (auto or 5spd) it should have been a good race

i see you were in dallas eh? hmmm come a little more north in plano......i'll give ya a run
