omfg.. really... because I just got challenged by the owner of one in my hometown. I told him I think you will kill me... I thought base RSX were like 210HP? He claims to race a prelude before and loss.. but recently did some minor mods... ( something to the crank? is what he said.) He doesnt have any exhaust mods, etc.

Type-s is 210... ok. did some more research. I dont know what year his RSX is... but I assume nothing major has changed over the years. I fear it being a debadged Type-S.

Also.................. they arent that much quicker without bolt ons, if its completely stock, and base.. u'll kill it, if its bolt ons, and a type s.. you'll stay with it, unless there is major mods, hondata conversion, blah blah, you wont lose if its a base.. i laugh at base models when they get next to me, because I would not buy a Base.. Type S or Go HOME! :P

ran into him tonight.. in the rain... he was still itching to race me... which was dumb.. but we went for it... the mighty SS lude in the rain at 110 beat him by atleast length. He did one ricer flybye... up to 120 in the rain which was insane. we did a few more short races.. which were even or me giving up because of the conditions. We pulled over and chatted.. he wants to do one when its dry @ 40 mph role. He said it was '02 bone stock.

glad everyone is ok, but that was pretty stupid man. Racing in the rain? Especially at those speeds. If you choose to put your life at risk that's your choice, but don't endanger the lives of people around you. I'm more sensitive to this because people that I have known have died in car accidents.

If you're an SS and you're doing a 40mph roll don't do it.. you MIGHT lose.. actually there's a good chance you'll lose.. is he automatic or manual? the thing is at 40mph SS preludes won't get lower than 2nd gear.. u can't go down 1st gear at all.. the car won't let you.. SS preludes will only let you shift to 1st gear on 30mph which is a pretty good place to start for us since it's revving high but not quite at vtec yet.. my advice is to do 30 roll(on 1st), or 50 roll(on 2nd).. i beat this base RSX on a 20 roll with a friend in my car.. so he had advantage.. well anyways from 20roll he jumped ahead a car length for awhile.. then when i shifted from 2nd to 3rd i just pulled away on him real nasty.. at 30 roll you'll definately take him no doubt.. but 40.. he'd probably just keep pulling and you can't do nothing about it but let your rpm climb real slow NEVER from a 40 roll.. never..

this is just an advice.. don't have to take it.. i'm not telling you to go race him again.. street racing's bad.. if u do it do it responsibly.. somewhere where it's clear?

I know it was totally stupid. We both agreed never ever to do that again. Thanks for the 40 roll advice... I dont street race much. so I doubt it will happen anytime soon.

H23 > RSX

I raced a base rsx on the highway. First I didnt even wanted to race this fool. So we lined up It was me and one of my buddies in my car. It was him and two other friends. So I punched it into third then fouth almost went to fifth but slowed down because there was a truck in front of me. , They kept on speeding next thing you 5-0 pulled over right next to me, went ahead and then pulled the loser over. whew!! Good thing I slow down. I didnt smoke him but did beat him by about by 1 1/2 cars. Me h23 w/ catback and cai, him catback what I saw. Well just thought I shared my story.

Hmm base rxs should be no prob even for a SS..Raced my friends rsx-type s, i got in front and he never passed me from the start. Then we did like 30 mph start and i was pulling little by little on him, when we started breaking we reached like 80 mph i was ahead by a car lenght. His is bone stock i got few mods...Typy S are nice though.

^ I have one and never dragged it, but I've read 16 to 16.8 1/4 miles. Remember the 2000 and 2001 SS are slower than the older SS's. This is due to Honda in order to prolong the life of this aweful tranny, they began to put aweful torque converters in them. They are more reliable, but slower. This is also why 00-01 are the only ones that come with a 100k mile tranny warranty.

My friend had a '98 SS that ran a best time of 16.6 @ 84 or 85mph I think. He had Iceman CAI, DC Header, Apexi WS exhaust, AEM Pully and B&M FPR. I've seen/heard average times of around mid 16s to mid 15s for mildly modified SS Ludes.
