Raced an RSX-S Today...

Wow, my first encounter with an RSX-S since I got my SS Lude swapped to a 5-speed JDM H22. My only mods are AEM pulleys, and that's it at this point. I don't have an intake or anything.

Anyway, I am on 202 South coming back from King of Prussia mall and this guy in a blue RSX-S keeps f*cking with me, cutting in front of me, so finally I decided to play along with it a little. First he's riding my ass at about 80 MPH and decides to do a ricer flyby. God I f*cking hate when people do that. Well I dropped it into 4th right as he was about to pass me and kept up with him dead even from 80 to about 105 then I shut it down. Keep in mind I have 18's.

A few minutes later we catch a light together. Now as I am pulling up to the light at first I am thinking I have 18's I shouldn't even bother racing. Both the kid kept looking over revving his engine. So I decided to race. The light turned and I didn't even launch my car, I probably revved to about 3K RPM's and launched from there, didn't peel out at all, though. The RSX peeled out pretty bad. All through 1st I was about a car length in front of him, he was in my blindspot, and I shifted at 8K RPM's, shifted hard into 2nd and chirped the tires. Through 2nd though he started to catch up, and I was about a half a car length on him. I stayed 1/2 a car length on him all the way through 3rd and then I shut it down. Of course after I shut it down he zoomed past me and kept on going until he was almost out of sight, lol.

Anyway, a few miles up the road I drove past him, and he gave me a peace sign, seemed like a nice guy.

BTW, the RSX-S looked stock, didn't have exhaust, and was extremely loud. So I am guessing he probably just had an intake.

Thanks bud, I appreciate it.

I am going to throw on some Brembo blank rotors and AEM brake pads next, and probably replace the wheel bearings along with the front and rear ball joints. Just some noise lately that's driving me crazy, lol.

I think you were talking about the Prelude Type S engine..220hp. Regular JDM H22A's have 200hp as well.

Finally, someone thinking with his head...not for
the right reasons, but still, at least you're thinking.

This is why the import scene has a bad name.

OBD has nothing to do with engines.

My car is OBD2 anyway, it's not OBD1. The motor was converted from OBD1 back to OBD2 so I can pass emissions. And like someone said, the JDM H22 I have is 200HP, and 161 lbs. torque I believe it is. The only mods I have are lightened flywheel and AEM pulleys, along with a JDM Type-S intake with a drop-in K&N air filter. Nothing too extraordinary.

monstar those are some big ass wheels!! i only looked in ur sig but they look like they are a good fit. Grats on converting to 5 speed and nice kill! There is a blue rsx-s where I live, he has a carbon fiber hood and all the standard bolt ons. I can't wait to race him after I put in the NX kit....Won't be much of a race tho *insert evil laugh*

Type S's are wayyy faster than our cars. I raced a couple before and they pulled hard and passed me even though i took them by a car off the launch, shifted at 8k, and never let off the gas.

98, is your car stock? And...where did you find a genuine Type-S?

It's only 20 more horses at the crank, it shouldn't pull you that hard.

Chris, hes talkin about an RSX Type-S, and if it was a new one they are like 210hp at the crank, and they weigh a good bit less than the Lude. Nevermind boltons and a ECU reflash easily gets you 200whp.

yeah, those rsx-s's are much much faster than 5th gen preludes. Those K series engines are impressive.
