I haven't had a race in a while and with the day I had pretty much nothing else coud of made me feel better.
Well I'll start things off by telling you one of the things that happend to me today, I got a blow out on the freeway, my cell phone fell out of my pocket somewhere so I couldn't find it,went to put my spare on and realized my lug wrench won't fit my wheel lug adapter, walked to the phone box, it was busted up, asked some guy to use his cell phone right over the fence, he said noended up walking a mile to a phone, got back ended up having a flat in the front too. so I ordered 600 dollars worth of tires.
anyway down to what made it all better, coming home from the tire place with my little space saver and all, I see this new evo cruising up, and I was gonna turn left, but when I saw him I decided to go straight just to see if he would play, I knew I would need my spray so I turned on my bottle, and waited, the cross light turned yellow and he started to inch forward, so I was sure he wanted to play, especially because there was nobody around, so I inched foward as well, both took off, he went easy so I was like oh well, come up to even more of a remote light, we were the only two on the street, light turned green I took off a little, once he saw me take off kinda quick, I hear his motor just start screamin, so I look back, sure enough here that dude comes, so I was on the button, we ran through about third, and I was ahead the whole time until we both shut down about the same time, at the next light, I looked over and he didn't even look at me, he just turned. I know he was pissed, it was funny too, because I know my car looks funny with a little space saver. It was a great feeling. I know the all wheel drive in those cars kills there power. But I will tell you what if I didn't have nitrous I would of got my ass kicked. But you know what...... I do have nitrous and I love it, for situations just like that.
I think it would of been neck and neck if he didn't take off easy, or probably launched right away, or even would of beat me, because theres no way I could out launch that car, but I was just happy that he couldn't catch me, probably thinking he could milk it, then just fly by.
That's the great thing about having a sleeper, people think that kind of crap all day.
P.s turns out my cell phone was on the side of my seat
I don't doubt that could happen because my own evo feels that way. You feel the majority of the torque at about 3500 to 4000 rpms but once you get high in the rpm range ie: 6k to 7k, the boost bleeds off to about 16psi. If you were to launch though, I don't think a nitrous prelude would take me in the evo unless the shot was exuberant ie: 100+. I've yet to test my evo against my jrsc lude once it gets out of the shop... but just from driving the evo around, launching the car from 5k to 6k slips... I don't think the 'lude stands a chance.
As for top-end power... well like I said earlier it bleeds boost at high rpms so it feels... complacent... at the top. It still goes but it feels like it's not doing so like it did a couple thousand rpms ago. It's nothing I couldn't fix with a boost controller though or a reflash of the ecu to hold boost all the way to redline. Then, even with awd, I don't think it'd have too much trouble pulling away.
Nice kill though.

Yeah I know if we would of had a all out launch off light he would of won, but still stock they are what 270 at the crank, and all wheel drive will kill that number, I don't even know but I know it's alot, like the wrx. at 225 or something to the crank they dynoed one a like 165 in import tuner. The numbers may be a little off but they are similar.

The Evo actually dyno's somewhere from 220 to about 235 at the wheels... typically. But, like I said earlier... it feels kinda weird if you're shifting at redline because the closer you get to it, the slower you feel. I think peak power is made at 6500rpms... and shifting there isn't always that good. I haven't run my evo at the track yet, but just from driving around town and having my *rare* encounters with various ricers and the occasional camaro driven by immature kids... it holds its own very well on a roll.
I've yet to mod the evo, but like all FI cars... the 3" exhaust/highflow cat/downpipe is probably first. And... like most FI cars... it'll gain more than my Greddy Evo exhaust did for my prelude.

wow that's still pretty good, I dynoed at 226 to the wheels with my n20. Those evo's look pretty cool though.

I have a 70 shot. Keep in mind that this evo looked stock, un modded a 230 hp lude could keep up from a role. I don't know about a sti, I haven't raced one yet, but I have killed many regular ones. again they had minimal mods.

I've never had a problem with evo's. I'm putting down 240 whp with the JR. I average about 2 car lengths on them (usually from a 40 punch). 1/4 times are about the same though due to thier lanch.
I have a Nos kit, and from a 70 shot it gives me about 42 to the wheels. It's still usually enough for the unsuspecting guy who wants to pick on me because he thinks I'm stock.

I noticed the bleeding off when I was driving yesterday, I thought it was just me but I guess not.
Don't worry 'bout beating rather stock evo's. It's the modded ones that will get you (like myself now... ehhehe). Full 3" catback, high flow cat, 3" downpipe, visnu xede,... and hoping to get the upgraded intercooler from AMS soon. I haven't dyno'd it yet but I'm expecting upwards of 280whp and this is still on the stock boost pressure. It's amazing how just a couple of bolt-ons create sooooo much power from a FI car as opposed to my prelude when I got my cat-back.
I still hope to beat it in my jrsc 'lude once it gets finished... even if I need to go to 9psi to do so.

Yeah I know, it's just not fair. 280 is awesome power. i just read a article about the hks evo, damn that's crazy, it dropped the quarter to I think it was 12.8.

Wow what's your power at 6psi? I'm at around 230 on the bottle give or take with no heater.

yeah its really not that fast stock from a roll. like funnieguy said, once its modded with turbo back exhuast, fuel managemnt of some sort and a lil more boost they'll have close to 300AWHP...
you know the little spare tire you have in your trunk, that's what they call them, they make them smaller to save space in our already smaller trunks, bigger cars, have full size spares.
