Prelude (98 SS base) vs. Civic (99 5-spd DX 4-door - Supercharged)

I raced my friend. Just for fun. About 20 minutes ago. Kinda lost... kinda won... we don't really know.

Prelude: i(AEM CAI)/e(Tanabe GPower) and rolling on 17" Enkei RS6 wrapped with yokohama paradas. 3/4 tank of gas and 2 10" subs in a box. I'm about 150 lbs. brake torqued around 2100 in Auto(not sport shift mode).

Civic DX: ~2400 lbs B16 motor (I think 97 or 106 hp) with a Jackson Racing Supercharger. 5-spd and 17" niche rims which are pretty heavy. He has a small system in the back as well... one 10" sub (custom fitted so it probably doesn't weigh more than 20-30lbs im' guessing...) He's about 120-130lbs and he had a passenger about 130-140 lbs. No launch techniques.

At the line: I brake torque for about 1.5-2 seconds around 2100 rpms and my friend didn't do any launch styles.

At Go time: I launched out about half a car. He was peeling out a bit but then he shot out in front of me about half a car. We're about 60-80 feet down the road I guess.

First Gear (for me): He stopped at half in front when he shifted gears and begin to pull slowly in 2nd. I hit vtec in 1st and caught him just a little before I went into 2nd.

Second Gear: We were at a stand still when I was pulling through 2nd. through the long 4k - 5k+ pull I guess I slowly caught up a little but I can't really remember. I know in second gear vtec I ended up slightly behind/tie/or in front of him. In third I pulled slowly away (real slow) and ended up maybe 1/8 of a car difference.

Third Gear: Well I was barely in third gear for a while before we hit the brakes for the upcoming stop... that was it.

I don't know who won... he doesn't know. We ended up around close. I think I ended up in front by a small car length.

My friends a decent driver. He's beaten stock Civic Si's before and many other cars around his level. He did get smashed by a sleeper si once. Pulled on him in 2nd gear (1/2 car length). He also got beaten by a civic si with nos and he got smoked by a 12-sec turbo eclipse by a lot of car lengths (4-5+ maybe? i dunno he gave up early).

Any questions or opinions?

i think the rest of the race would'a been all you.

He has a b16 swap into his Civic DX? cuse they come with D16's......

If thats the case.. he shoulda spanked you. =]

But there is a guy round here i htink that has a Civic SOHC non-vtec engine, Jackson racing supercharger, etc etc, everything you can think of, and he ran a mid 15........ waste of money on that sohc non-vtec... waaaaaaaaay waste of money.

I'm sorry it was a D16... I just assumed all civics were of the same engine hehe... yeah it's a d16 yes it was a waste of money... he knows it but I'm a friend and try not to make him feel like a total idiot because that would make me an asshole.

Anyways... I did beat him at the top of 2nd... by the beginning of third we both let off the gas. his passenger confirmed it... he said I was rolling up on him quick and hard and woulda had him if we went any faster.

So yeah, he has a D16, wasted money, and probably runs mid 15s. I didn't get to third because it probably wasn't safe considering the stop sign was coming up in like 200 feet.

Daniel... I don't race often... pretty much not at all... it's not really safe around Garden Grove... too many busy streets. Always a cop hiding in the bushes somewhere. Anyways, I raced Timmy (remember Timmy? Got spanked by a Eclipse named Doug?) on Springdale... right before the overpass over the 22 but we went the other way. The flashing red light.

The reason people use the D series motors in their Civics is because you can get them for free. Their is an endless supply of them and they don't cost a dime. I have 5 left over from my CRX, 2 were never even put in.

2000lb CRX running 125 shot on a D15 motor deep into the 13's was fun. Swapping motors ever 2 weeks wasn't.

i seem to think it's funny how no one factors the fact that the civic peeled out and that he had a passenger.. if it was so close then take away the passenger and get a good launch and the civic should win.. IMO
