And also i won't have too much money becuz it is my first car. i need something that will take me to school, go home, and then go race the crap out of all the local cars .so maybe suggest some mods with the car and what the performance will prolly be. Why is this in the race section? O well..my recommendation? Ludes are badass cars but they are expensive. And they're also expensive to mod..for the cheapest, best bang for the buck i would recommend looking into a DSM (Eclipse or Talon)..the 95-98s..or even the gen before that..in the stock turbos you're looking at low 15s, and with about 2k in the car you can run 12s..not many other cars can do that

Those mods are just like a boost controller, intake/exhuast, maybe a bigger intercooler...but stock turbo

Well talons and eclipses are fast when they are working.
If you want a daily driver and a racer all in one then you will find
that the DSM cars are expensive. Not only will you have to modd it
but things will start going quickly. They are not very relaible.

Just read any lemon aid book and see the long term ratings.
THen Read about a prelude.

I would go for an older style integra/prelude.

Even a civic with a drop is not bad at all.

Teh talons are very fast, but I don't know how relaible they are.
BTW-- Hondas are not perfect, they have their share of problems too.

You do have a point there..if you don't take care of them they can crap out on you..but parts are cheaper than for Hondas and such..

ldracer: DSM stands for Diamond Star Motors..DSM cars include Mitsubishi Eclipse turbos, Eagle Talon turbos, Plymouth Laser turbos (the 3 just listed had the exact same tranny and motor in the 1st generation i believe it was), 3000gt vr4s, Galant vr4s...and i think that's it..

My neighbor has a '97 Eagle Talon TSi AWD, and except for body differences it's the exact same car as a '95-'99 (i think those are the yrs) Eclipse GSX..the tranny and motor are the exact same..

They really are great cars and require minimal mods and money to reach the 11s which is amazing..there's an online kit for 3 grand that assures low 12s, high 11s

They aren't too problematic..one of the major problems was with the tranny..some said it was weak..people would go and drop the clutch at 5-6,000 rpms, and it took it's toll..I would still look in to them man..great cars...and it will go faster, for less money than a Honda (but i still love honda )

Goodluck and if you have any further questions don't hesitate to ask man..

i would go for a integra gsr. easy to mod and cheap to buy. The eclipse is a great looking car... but the 95 and 96 had an engine prob on the na ones. The turbo ones are expensive insurance wise, and hard to maintain...

Fastest

Define 'fastest' and maybe I can help... if you're looking for straight line acceleration and all, well, frankly I think you should just get a plain vanilla pony car, the fastest Mustang you can afford or the fast Camaro you can afford. I know they are the antithesis of cars like the Prelude but every car has its strengths and 0-60 just isn't the Preludes, nor cars like it. A cheapo camaro will do something like 0-60 in 5.2 seconds. Granted it'll be ugly, break, have a horrible interior, no traction in poor weather, cruddy handling, basically bad everything else, but it'll be real fast if you just want to go straight from a stoplight very very quickly. There, open mind.

That said, go get a Prelude =)

I say go for either a DSM, 4g Prelude, or an older GSR. They are all pretty fast, cheap to start off 10-12g's and fairly reliable. Good luck with your choice.

Well me may just be confusing you more. Here is my random opinions.

If you wanna see lots results from mods go with a v8 or a turbo car. NA is not good for straight line MOD for MoD.

I like that list of 4g, integra or DSM from the previous post.

Another good turbo car like the DSM is a VW 1.8 T. They are quick when modded properly.

DSM's are heavy but fast and have pretty good handling.

v8s (American muscle/pony cars)are not good cause all there are fast. They have **** breaks for the speeds they do and they waste hell of a lot of gas. Actually I have beaten a v8 4.6 liter 1998 stang on 2 occasions in my 2001 prelude so I don't think that car is any better.

so be wise, and also think ahead. You don't just by a car for 6 months normally. You may get sick of a car that does not offer several good things.

That is why I went with a 5g prelude

good luck
