Me vs S2K

I was on my 30 minute drive home from a town in south jersey on route 1 north (some know what that is here).. It was clear except for maybe 4 other cars.. But then one of them pulled up next to me. Happened to be some kid in an S2K.. I took off normally. I didnt instigate a race or anything.. He paced me.. Then he went behind me, to the left, and then in front... Then back to my right. As if he circled my car..

He downshifted next to me (I was not ready) so I throw my car in 3rd as he started to pull away (at 75mph)... I started to pull up to him and as I shifted to 4th I was pulling more but he braked.. So... We get next to each other again around 85mph.. I LEFT IT IN 4TH THIS TIME.. Here is the kicker. MY CAR STILL pulled on him and he couldnt catch up as I left it in 4th till 125ish... We get a LIGHT... YES!!! My favorite!!

He pulls up and turns his radio down.. Rolls the window down.. Asian kid.. I love asians!! I said is your car stock? he said yes. I said hmmm. I think it should still keep up with a prelude.. He said my ABS light is on. I dont know what that is.. I said its your anti-lock-brakes.. I said we go at this light? He said yes!! I said cool!

Light changes... And I took off at 2500 RPMS (sad I know but it works) and HE NEVER CAUGHT UP AT ALL. And I was looking behind to see if he was still coming.. He asked me what I had done, said the car is FAST and said thanks for the race.. WAIT till he gets mods..

I still felt like I lost.. Why? I was in the FWD car. And my header is badly dented. Well the downpipe is.

Fun times! Street racing is bad though mmkay?

I think I am only excited, because I expected to lose.. A long time ago I raced one with my USDM motor/tranny with a bad clutch.. And he beat me by a car length... This guy was on his CELLY too.. And he was yelling at me asking me repeatedly: "You want some more?! You want some more?!"

Sure dude! My clutch is slipping to hell, and you would have won anyway!

So I expected to lose to this guy.. I know a modded one would have been more even(if it was lightly modded), but on the other hand.... I dont know TOO much about a lightly modded F series motor..

Like say.. Racing Mark's supercharged S2K would mean certain doom for me. Thats a given.. But this one had an intake I am sure.. It was LOUD behind me. But the exhaust was stock. I doubt he had anything else.

LOL, I've raced a few NA modded S's and all of them rolling and how much I can walk them even with the stock Comptech kit is pretty impressive. I think its why I never felt a need to make more power in the year and half I've had it.

I dont doubt that your Lude modded would keep up with a stock S especially if its a bad driver. If you dont drive them right its even less forgiving then a Prelude for balls out racing.

How bad can you drive from a roll? We both launched terribly off the line. he didnt miss a gear, and there were no long moments in between his shifts. He gave me my props.. It sure did seem like it took a lil while for his "vtec" to kick in though in 1st.. I figure you have ring an F series motor's neck though with that redline.. We even went from a roll side by side TWICE... I left it in ONE gear...

The bottom line is that a stock S2000 is a faster car than a stock Prelude. It's around one full second faster in the 0-60 and around one full second faster in the 1/4 mile. That's a pretty big difference.

Oh I know what the bottom line is.. And what magazines and such say. Im not stock.. I beat this guy and he KNEW it. I've beaten my friend's stock prelude also.. The bottom line is we should have been even right? Nope.. He wasnt even close... Not saying my car is faster than sh!t being flushed down a toilet or anything. It just isnt stock I guess.

What kind of mods do you have? I'm assuming more than bolt-ons... right?

JDM H22A, and JDM LSD tranny (M2B4) as stated in my sig.. I didnt throw in the lightened flywheel either. But the thing is.. I dont find any of these mods major.. Nothing is done to the motor internally.. Just those bolt ons you see in my sig. And my header is SEVERLY dented on one side of the down pipe.. 4-2-1...

I cant wait to get either a hytech header, or the new vibrant (if it EVER comes out)
