me vs bros 94 3kgt update (long)

well i finally got a chance to race my bro again, this time a bit more equally matched (no passengers, both had full tanks of gas.

its about 3:30AM and were on our way home from a friends house on a 3 lane road, sort of iin a secluded area, no traffic.

1st run- from about 50 we both start out in 3rd i honk 3xs and were off he started to pull a lil bit then i hit vtec and pulled him back in and kept pullin on him till 85 when we shut down.

2nd run - went from a bit slower (coming up to a red light and it turned green as we got to it so maybe 5-10. both in 1st gear gun it at the same time same deal he pulls a lil vtec hits i pull on him and keep pullin till the end of 3rd when i had a car length on him.

3rd run - from a stop (we werent having any luck getting lights together so we just stopped in the middle of this road.) honk 3xs i spun through all of first and he says he just didnt get a good launch, but i got some distance on him from the get go and pulled pulled a car length and a half by the top of third again.

4th run - (he was getting determined he wanted to win atleast 1 run) we made a u turn with me in front i took inside lane, him outside i waited for him to get next to me both in first again and we gun it at the same time.... same deal he got a lil i pulled it back and kept pullin till shut down

5th run - (last 1) we are at the end of this road with a long straightaway in front of us. he is so pissed off at this time cause he just cant believe he cant win. so we go from a stop again. 3 honks and were off cept my right tire wasnt on the road so ofcourse he pulled away and i sat there spinning in the dirt....
it was funny afterwards he said "atleast i won once, what was up with that last run huh?" acting like he just finally got a good run in, i told him that i was in the dirt, he was just like oh...... damit u A$$ hole

it was great, he could not believe my "lil 4 cyl" was beating him. he was pretty much in shock for a while, and was pissed off that the only time he won was when i started with 1 wheel in the dirt. hes still all embarrassed and tellin me to not tell any1 . so now hes looking for mods that he can put on so he can beat me. lol its great

i did that last time from a lil above 50 and didnt like jumpin the rpms up to 6 grand only to go back to 3rd in .5 seconds... ill save my engine the strain and just slowly pass him. i wont downshift to 2nd unless im under 50mph.

well if you know you're going to go from a rolling start, wouldn't it be better to just get to 50 mph in 2nd..and then floor it and then shift to third?

if u are even close to 65mph (like say 60 or so) dont do it cuz u will be shifting right into third.. but if u are at 50 it is safe to do so.. no matter what u are putting strain as u say on your engine cuz u guys arent exactly cruising around on the street if u are street racing.. not trying to be mean or anything.. just showing ya some shifting techniques cuz i believe u said u havent had the car too long?? but it is your car and u do as u wish... we all have different techniques so whatever works for u.. some launch the car at 6k.. i launch at 4k just fine..

:edit: if u are more than 7 mph below 50 mph, then u should just be coming out of first since first pretty much winds out till 42mph or so..

when i get outta the whole its my new baby stage and start abusing it more im sure i will be droppin into higher rpms more comfortably.... i always forget about vtec not kickin in till 5 anyway so higher rpms = better, just hafta get used to it.

yeah my bros 3kgt is a manual, no not a SL, but a base model with the DOHC 24v engine(same as sl)
