Lost to a GSR swapped hatch I was on my way to my cousin who was going to install my pulleys too! So I raced him before I got the pulleys installed... I had saw a red/maroonish 92-95 civic style hatch on the highway and looked like he was trying to catch up to me so I downshifted and I saw him in the rearview mirror, but I noticed he wasn't exactly fallin away so I was like damn this hatch must have sumthin, he was slowly inching closer too. So we turn into another street, and lined up side by side. We went for it after 3 honks and we were even through first gear, but in on the top of second he started pulling a fender on me and we shifted gears and the position was still tha same but going through third he was pulling and by the end of third he had about a car on me but stopped gaining it seemed like his longer redline helped him..
I was hoping to do better =\ Oh wells I talked wth the owner later on and he said he has the JDM Type-R motor, he said b18c had the red valve cover looked authentic because it looked used, but I don't keep up with the ITR engine codes and such and didn't check the code, I thought it was a b18c5?
(update: I confirmed from someone that knows him that it is an ITR engine, i'll check the code next time I run into him)
But anyhoo, he had full exhaust and shortram intake, plastic looking so I think iceman. Everything else was stock, stock header too but not sure if it was the JDM 4-1 header or not. (update: it was a 4-1) Not sure if I did good or not, not even sure if what I raced was a gsr or type r engine... But afterwards I installed the pulleys and I felt a difference, low and mid range feels better, im sure it increased the HP and TRQ throughout the whole powerband Im ready for him now but I wish I met him after I got the pulleys installed (Alternator and power steering pulleys)
heyy... i think i know that guy.. my cousin's friend.. Was he some asian dude? If its the same person i drove his car before, well at least i drove a hatchback ITR which = FUN!
I too got killed by a Civic hatch back with ITR motor. I was on the way to work early in the morning, still dark out. He was flashing his high beams at me from behind. I waited to see what kind of car it was, I let him pass for a couple of hundred feet, then I down shifted to 3rd, I zoomed by him, I figured because there was 4 people in his car and I was by myself. So anyway, there was about 400 feet in between us, but then we hit the up hill my car went from about 128 mph to 119 mph, sure enough slowly but surely he was gaining on me. I was just hoping that I could get on top of the hill then coast down the hill, but didn't happen. He passed me, got in front of me, put on his hazard lights and everone in the car gave me the thumbs down. I passed him on the down hill and didn't look over from the embarrassment. I asked my friends if they knew whose car that might be, that's when I found out that he has an ITR engine. I told them that I slowed down on purpose just in case there was cops around instead of admiting defeat. Damn it, I want my H23 turbo now!!! I want a round 2 and final round. By the way kid, don't try this at home.
The hatches are so much lighter than our preludes. Especially considering I have a 5th gen. My younger brother has a 98 hatch with a gsr motor and I can't beat him worth ****. We've raced a couple of times and he always beat me by a couple of car lengths. He just installed with drag turbo with a t3/t4 turbo, I ain't even gonna try.

Dude you ran against a 200hp motor in a car that weighed 400lbs less. If you lost by only 1 carlength thats great.

No, not right now. I'm still building it for turbo application. I have the F22A1, Accord engine. I will have most of my fundings in October, so hopefully by December my engine is finished, break it in for a few months and then turbo it!!!
I raced a type r hatch at the track and those things are just plain fast. he was running low 14's all day, and I think he said he was having trouble with the car, it was way faster than my car. granted he had slicks, and it was gutted.

440 whp 800 torque.
He should've been DEEP into the 13s w/ a b18c5, slicks and a gutted hatch. Actually, I'd think if it was tuned properly, he should be close to 12s with a good launch.
