just lost to 94-96 vteck lude

sup guyz..i was coming home from droping my girl off and this 93-96 vtec prelude comes next to me on freeway and all the sudden we start racin...he was tied till 4th gear and as soon i put on 5th...i saw him all the way behind..which felt good until he gave me high beam..he wanted to get off the freeway and race off the line and we both got off the freeway...he counted to 3...and damn i was just spinning my tires and he took off...I knew i messed up on my launch so i told him to do it again and we did it again and i made same mistake again...i m f****** pissed. I guess I m not used to my new clutch and flywheel... Can't even launch at 3k rpm..tires spin crazy but car doesnt move..maybe i was racing wrong..any suggestion?

if you're getting that kind of wheelspin at 3k thats insane. try dropping the clutch half way out and do it at around 4500 then feather the rest of the clutch out.

What do you exactly mean by feathering the clutch????? I need to learn this to launch my lude. I'm trying to race my friend's 01 Mustang GT. He keeps saying craps about my car.

Hey now. You don't need to have a turbo to race Wustangs. My friends try to race one everytime they see one. No turbo. Just nitrous.

The key to beating a 4g vtec is not to race them in the first place

I know I'll lose. But he's saying he can walk on me easily, no competion at all....which pisses me off. He even said he'll beat me with the turbo on. Right then, I stopped the conversation. But I still want to know what you guys mean by feathering clutch. I've been driving for only a year now with 5 speed. So fill me in the info guys.

Redlude-

That mustang owner is straight up ridiculous. If he's stock, you'd put the smack on him with a turbo. I've beat more than my fair share of Mustangs, and all I've got is a 40 shot of nitrous.

As far as feathering or slipping the clutch, just do a search for 99Prelude_LC's launching instructions. He's got it down to a science. Feathering or slipping the clutch means carefully letting it out between the point of being fully engaged, or not engaged at all. Be very careful! You can destroy a clutch quickly if not done properly. If you are careful with the gas and clutch, you can get a good holeshot. You just have to practice and find that all important balance between bogging the launch and excessive wheelspin/hop.

If you don't feel confident about the launch proir to the race, see if he will race you from a 45 mph. roll in second gear. Either way, Good Luck!!

Why fear a mustang? I've taken every v6 I've ran, I've also taken the python v6 (230hp, dunno about torque.) All I have is intake. Never ran a mustang gt. But from what I heard LC can hang with them, and all he's got is i/e. I'm not saying I'm as good driver as LC by any stretch of the imagination, but I dunno... it's a custang to me.

It really depends on what generation the Mustang GT is...

If its 1994-1998 GT, then you should beat it with minimal mods

On the other hand, if its 99+, you better have something special, they pack a nice punch. I know first hand because I had a supercharged Saleen puttin down low 12s

peace

well.. i don't really know exactly wat year it would be, but i wouldn't give a **** anyways!
all i remember is that it had a saleen body kit with gt sign on the back.. hhaha
he also had a dual 2.5" exhaust that was pretty loud... but that was about all i could tell...
my prelude.. its a 98 type sh, yes, its turbo! custom kit made from fmax and upgraded. i have 3" exhaust all the way, no cat! no, its not tuned yet... i have a vafc and j&s safeguard to monitor it... i m only running 7lbs open.
both my cel and atts came on when i was racing the stupid mustang!
my j&s lighted up and pull my timing but i still smoked the ***get!
man.. i m only piss cuz that ****er talk **** and wanted **** when he knows my mom was in the car and thought i wouldn't do anything.. usually, i wouldn't cuz she was there, but the baldy boi was pushing it too far!!! still ****ing pissed!!!
