first 2 races in my 97 lude-03 rsx-s, 94 3000gt

I've been itchin to see how my car matches up to other things on the road since i bought it. well i found out about where it lies...

1st race against my brother (94 3000gt base DOHC manual with only a short shifter)

from a stop- we both got a bad start and spun through most of 1st, by the top of 2nd around 60-70 my front bumper was at the back of his rear bumper and he kept slowly pullin on me till we shut down around 100

from a 45mph roll - i just bought the car so im not to used to the speeds and rmps and when i should downshift to a lower gear so i mistakenly downshifted to 2nd oops o well i gunned it and shifted to third, he down shifted to third and gunned it the same time i did and we kept up nose to nose till 85 when we shut down cause of my gf freaking out next to me screaming and hitting me to slow down .... women....... the road was wide open no traffic, 3 lanes each way ... o well

so then as i left work one night i pulled past a 03 rsx-s with another person in p seat, he immediatly pulled back up next to me and tapped the gas. so i gave him 3 honks and on the third we gunned it in third from 45 and i slowly pulled past him and just kept pullin till 90 when we shut down. i was pretty impressed i walked him w/out much trouble. at the next light he was in the Lt turn lane, i was in the straight lane next to him he rolled down the window and he asked what i had done to my car i told him i had just bought the car and it was stock, he was surprised because the rex-s is supposed to be rated at 200, and the lude at 195. The light went green and off we went.

interesting, walking a rsx-s, easily?? good kill. usually drivers race.

the ratings are all the same 200hp, 200hp. the RSX-s puts down 170ish WHP, and weighs around 200 lbs less than our car. so do the math... since u won.. its definitely a good kill.

initial - the rsx did have 2 very large guys in it that i could see possibly another in the back seat (dark tint) but yeah i knew these cars are pretty close in the #'s. i would like to run 1 evenly to see how close.

oreo- actually i pretty much knew he would beat me. 1 -i had alot of extra weight in the car (gf lol and about 3-400 lbs worth of car parts and tools and other stuff ( i was on my way to go help my dad fix his truck which had been in an accident earlier and needed some repairs to drive home)) 2- my tires suck low tread, all season, dry, no traction(if i power shift into second they will break loose for a good 2 secs
i would like to race him again a lil more even (if i get some better tires, less weight, get some more prectice launchin.... etc)

kinda funny my bro has kept up with a TT 300zx auto till 80pmh when it slowly pulled away..... just another reason why i half expected him to beat me (might be a factory freak)

yeah... i think hes gonna be unpleasantly surprised when i do beat him, hes still convinced that cause hes got a v-6 and i "only" have a inline 4cyl that hes always gonna win.....

btw do you have anything done to your car ?

all i have is an ebay short ram intake.. which doesnt count for anything.. bald yokohama avs es100's up front... and bad wheel hub bearings.. i STILL won..

:edit: tell your brother he needs turbo to win.. trust me.. those things are pigs even compared to our heavy ass cars. u figure we have 200/195/190hp and they have 218hp with the good 24 valve motor... yet with nobody in the car it weighs in at an estimated 3,300lbs (my guess).. THAT's the problem.. power to weight ratio in those cars.. my friend wondered how his car lost to mine.. i explained that to him.. and he said well at least my car "looks" faster..

:edit yet again: sl's weight 3,263lbs.. the 18 valve base models with 181hp weight 3,100.. (waste of money IMO)

ive owned 3 3000gts myself (2 project cars) and i love um, i just needed something better on gas and insurance to get me through college. they usually put down around 180-190 at the wheels (dohc engine, manual) the base model with the dohc weighs 3252 stock i ran 15.0 in the 1/4, but i have seen other people in them get as low as 14.7 on drag radials stock otherwise. after i installed intake, exhaust (no cats of course), light weight flywheel, underdrive pulley, short shifter and gm 60000volt coils, and a bit o weight reduction i was slowly pullin on lt1 crapcaros and was almost keepin up with ls1's, but i never made it to the track b4 i wrecked it i did get a chance to top it out b4 i did though, i reached 153 with a guy on a cbr 6oo rr next to me, that was fun. they handle like crap unless you put a decent suspension on them. definatly are ALOT more sluggish feeling then our cars. i did like having a good amount of power at lower rpms in the 3kgt unlike ludes where u hafta have them in high rpms to get movin quickly. dont kill me but i do like the way they look a bit lower with some nice rims and dark tint better than our cars, even though ours are alot better than most cars.

anyway ill hafta update when i get a chance to run him again when its a bit more equalally matched.

the only 3000gts i ever had trouble with were the twin turbos...even the SLs didnt match up at all...the best ive ever seen one run at my track is 14.8, and he had a ton of crap done...but kudos on your car, it sounded pretty mean....

the sls are a bit heavier than the base models with the same engine, but 110lbs doesnt account for much.

as a comparison my gf at the time had the same year as mine only in the SL trim, i have to give her credit she could actually drive it well to. anyway mine was a base with the same engine and when i had those mods done i would leave her car like it was standing still. those cars are so restricted its rediculous if u get a chance look at how the stock exhaust is routed, its so retarded. sorry ill stop rambling about the stupid engineers now

i do believe if u get a newer one 97-99 u cannot get the 24 valve engine in the base model.. only in SL trim. but yes speaking on the 94-96 models.. u can get a base with the 24 valve engine.. so far i have never seen one run high 14's on the track.. heck i have never seen one modded to hell either though that was NA.. my friend has an exhaust... that's it.. they do look more stealthy than our cars specially in black (i had black so i could be biased).. YES the stock exhaust is RETARDED.. looks like a maze of pipes under there.. and the muffler is on ONE side.. the other two outlets arent even running to a muffler.. eh.. i loved that car tho.. till i raced into a gsr.. mind u mine was auto.. :u:

yeah my first and 3rd(project car) were both black, my 2nd(also a project car) was pearl white. i had some various non go fast thnigs done to my first one 2; rims, suspension(intrax springs, kyb gr2 struts/shocks,) full system, dark tint, etc. i loved how many looks and fingers i got (u know the whole wow look at that thing) i felt like i was driving an exotic by the way people would react to it.
the main reason alot of people dont mod the N/A s is because 1 parts are hard to come by unless you are on the 3si.org forum where parts and all the info you could possibly want is at your fingertips, or 2 if you do find parts their extremly expensive. u buddy of mine has a 98 civic ex that he did pretty much the same stuff as i did to mine to his and hes pent something like 500$ less then i did in parts alone o well just more reasons why i came to honda

yeah my friend here is complaining how he has to spend more money on custom made parts for his NA 3000 since they are not available.. and his intake comes in 2 pieces at a price altogether of over or around 300 dollars.. filter and tube are sold seperately...

yup and there really arent that many good large companies out there making aftermarket for them, its mostly private people making things themselves. which turns out worse cause theres no competition so they can charge anything they want, and also they dont make parts for very long cause they get swamped and sick of dealing with it, so no replacement parts or warranties or refunds. just sux.
