finally i get a chance to post an actual street race. It seemed like i was the only person in the area who liked to street race. Anyways i'm on U.S. 19 in cranberry(Pa) and going north. I see this blue wrx go by me at a slugish pace but i see that there was a kid about my age driving it. So i switch lanes and get behind him. Well when i did this he floored it in heavy traffic. I followed him and was torn between going back to work and seeing if he wanted to race. Well F#@# work. I followed him till the road opened up and finally we caught a light right next to each other.
THE RACE: well after he ignored me for a little while he looked over, and i threw a hand motion like lets go, and he nodded. the light changed and he just started out as normal, and i was confused. Then from like a 5 to 10 roll he punched and i responded by mashing my pedal down. I was like at his door the whole way through first. then when i shifted into second we were dead even. Then we got to third and i started to pull away. Then at 4th i had like a car length or even two well i proceeded to hit 125 or so and noticed he had given up so i slowed down. he ended up turning before he caught up to me. but still it was a good fair street race and it was a lot of fun.
EDIT: all i have is a short shifter but i love it, and i think he was stock...oh and we were on a sort of a down slope...does that matter?
A good driver can launch those things at 7k rpms. I remember racing 2 of them 1 was a friend of mine. My friend doesn't know how to drive it that well but still managed to jump a whole car in front on the launch, the other jumped a car and a half. It took me to 3rd to catch my friend, and mid 4th to catch the other.
Yeah All wheel drive Rips us out of the hole that is for SURE.

Good kill bro where did you get a short shifter for the prelude ive been looking for one
I got it from a local performance shop but i'm sure you can get it online somewhere. Its just the neuspeed short shifter kit. does wonders to your shifting. almost impossible to fall out of vtec

Actually, the best way to launch the WRX is around 4100-4400 RPM's. Their's no gain in launching above that, and especially below. When you drive the WRX, you'll know when you launch right, it'll make a odd thunk sound as you drop the clutch. Then you'll rocket out of there so fast you'll not even know what happened.
Launching above 4500 RPM's without some major clutch feathering gives you the Talon launch, lurches pretty quick and then falls down to about 5k before it starts to go. Not very impressive.
Your probably right, i just figured since I launch around 3500rpms, a rwd can launch higher and a awd even higher... I never had a chance to drive them subu's

Well it's mainly because the WRX's peak torque is around 4000 RPM's. You want to launch right about there, maybe a tiny bit higher to get the most out of the engine and the AWD system.
