Ep3

I may race a 2002+ Civic SI on Friday. I believe he just has simple mods such as intake, header and a cut out. What you guys think? These things got power, but I'm not if it will smoke a prelude. I raced a EP3, supposedly heavily modded, and we were head to head first race and ended at that, but second race he beat me.

Any experiences with Civic SIs?

im planning on opening up my ecs for this, you think it will hurt me as I go up in high RPMs in first gear since I got no internal mods?

you're golden, just don't bounce it off the limiter because that will screw your run.

I raced one on the freeway with 2 of my friends in the car. I am 260lbs my friend rob is 220lbs and paul is 200lbs. The guy driving the SI was somewhere between 120lbs and 130lbs. Long story short raped him with the AC on. They are the crapiest cars that honda has ever produced.

I cant believe there are so many negatives about the Ep3s. I mean it does have I-VTEC and all.

the i-vtec in the ep's is nothing like the i-vtec in rsx type-s's... my friend's 4dr 95 integra gsr and i are almost identical. we both ran around 15-15.2 at the quarter and i was in his car one nite and absolutely raped an ep3.

Yeah, the EP hatchback Si's were pretty weak. I recently purchased an '06 Si and that thing is pretty nice now. It'd give a 5th gen a pretty good run.

wow you got an '06 si? already?

actually i was thinking that car might beat the ludes... the 5th gens i think it'd beat cause its lighter and the 197hp actually = 205hp i think without the revision so a little morepower then the 5th gen.

the 4th gen... we're a little lighter but less power (stock)

but damn i really wanna go test drive the si either way

Hmm... I wonder how it would have been against my old '98 5th gen against my new '06 Si. The 5th gen had more torque and felt faster at higher speeds but the Si has an LSD which really helps. I don't like the drive-by-wire throttle and the way the ecu makes the car rev on an upshift but it would have been interesting. They both weigh pretty similar although they dyno slighty different (5th gen - 160ish, Si - 170ish).

Neither of my cars compare with my Evo though.
