99 SH Lude Vs. WRX STI

So I was going for a little drive on the highway the other day, and all of a sudden I see a blue STI. In the past I've raced one of these on the highway and lost misserably, so I thought I might aswell try using the laughing gas this time around.

My mods are I/E/55HP Dry Zex.

So we started from about 70 MPH till around 100 MPH, and from the get go, even with the nitrous, I had nothing on this guy. The STI is in a totally different league!

Is this normal? I expected to atleast be able to hang with him for a bit!

i raced a modded sti the other night from a rolling start (about 45mph). he jumped and pulled but i heard him shift so i decided to rev a little higher. when i shifted, i started inching and he turned off. he didn't hit his brakes but he may have just been slowing down getting ready for his turn. either way, i had two people in my car and i wasn't very impressed on his pull. i was expecting a runaway.

at a rolling start, that really wouldn't make much of a difference. and with a 500 pound difference, it's honestly not that surprising. i'm not trying to claim a victory, but i am saying that it didn't pull as hard as i would have assumed. but isn't there someone on this forum running a 13.7 in a fourth gen with mild bolt-ons on this forum?

Out of curiosity, assuming a really good driver in both a lude and the STI.. how much whp will the lude (5th gen) need to be at to hang (or at least only lose by less than a car length) with a stock STI off a roll?

stock STi's put down ~230-250whp on a all-wheel drive dyno, depending on which one they use
so yea youre gonna need that much

yeah man it's gonna take more n20 than that, maybe a 75 shot will even things us some...Last time I raced an STI, I slowly walked him...from a start it should be a different story...shoot from what i've been told, from a roll it should be a different story but hey...a win is a win right hehe.

an m3 should crush an sti on the freeway, just like my car (evo), its not that hot after the launch until you start modding it, there's a large lack of top end.

but yeah, in a prelude i wouldn't waste gas tryin to race one of those without some FI of your own.
