95 maxia se vs me

my friend has a 95 maxima 5 speed, cai with 20 inch rims and a complete custom trunk with a heavy box in it...we raced and from the light he had really bad tire spin...didnt get traction till 2 seconds after launch and then jumped on me but after that i was ahead the whole race and beat him up top...my question is i ran a 15.2 with an exhaust leak, bald tires, launched at 1200 and bad ignition...i have since upgraded my wires and plugs, fixed my exhaust leak, got new Nitto tires and i lauched at 2800 this time...do you think it was a close race or did the 20s and box hurt him to much?

The 20's and box definately hurt him. The 1995 Maxima's are rated at 190 hp with 205 lbs of torque, plus they only weight 3001 lbs. Their torque gives them a huge advantage. My friend's 92 Maxima ran a 15.4. The older Maxima's are over a 100lbs heavier and has 15 lbs of less torque. I'm sure a 1995 Maxima can run low 15's. Just don't underestimate the Maximas, especially the 2000 and up.

Sounds like a good race. Nice job.

I raced a '96 Maxima V6 w/ I/H/E, and we were DEAD even from a 60 roll. It was one of the more intense races I've been involved in. I'm h23 though.

i used to own a 93' maxima se. I think my 200 prelude could beat my old 93' but the 95' and up maxima might be a little harder. My 93' had 190hp and 190ft/lbs of tourque. good car just heavy
