94-96??4th gen vs. 5th gen 97

was on rte 495 about to get on 66 going west(5lanes). see a nice 4th gen with passenger, I pass on the left, and he revs up and kicks in vtec for a sec. I slow down, look over wait till he guns it, then I dropped from 5th to 3rd going about 70 (first time)..I never felt the real power of my car until then, shift at 8g's on the vafc.I f'in stomp him, let back at about 100, I'm about 50 yards ahead. guess he didnt know how to drive or shifted into 4th or something. he blinks his high beams, I tap my break 2 times, and exit onto 66.
Thought I'd post it, was the first time anybody tried to raise up against my car. im addicted now

its was funny cause he had a stupid smerk on his face before I drop into 3rd...bet he didnt when I pulled away..

peace

Rob

that was a quick race lol. 70-100 is about 5 seconds on our cars.

if you were going 70 you were @ about 3500, if you dropped into 3rd, i'd say you were at about 55-5700

he said he dropped into third, it makes sense, he dropped into third at 70 which i might add is like the Perfect speed for our cars, they take off if you do a 5th to 3rd drop at 70. my third gear goes all the way to about 90-93 mph

If he was racing a 4thgen VTEC, then the kid didn't know how to drive...Plain and simple, between the weight advantage and so on of the fourth....Congrats though, it's always nice to have someone else start it and you finish it...Just don't get too adicted....It can get you in trouble if you do it too often...lol

for the first time I put what I read on the board to good use...the 5th to 3rd drop. I was going about 70mph in 5th..i passed the guy on the lefft...not even a aggressive pass...and he then reved up or downshifted into 4th I guess to show off vtec for a sec....of course I slowed down and got into the lane next to him...now one over cause he went around a car....then same as the above post...
I agree from what I've read 4th gens aren't nothing to mess with...weight to power is a couple hundred less right...pds...
also learned a lot about pushing every last bit outte the gears before you shift...what a difference the vafc makes...accurate reading..

I also agree on the kid didnt know how to drive...I stomped him way to quick..either he shifted from 5th to 4th...or just gave up when I pulled off....hehe

peace

Rob
