Coming home from work today I was stopped at a redlight when a new '05 Mustang GT pulls up next to me - Black with Gold stripe(had "GT" on the side). Anyways, I'm thinking if he pushes it on green I'm gonna go for the 'bait' since we had an empty half-mile stretch in front of us.
So, the light turns green, and just as expected, he revs slightly and takes off, as do I. It was pretty even at first, however after shifting to second he had about a half-car length, and by third I knew I was done since he was about 1 1/2 car lengths in front of me. Now, just to be clear I wasn't expecting to win since I've heard the GT's are fast. However, I didn't expect him to pass me so quickly especially when I was in third (third seems to pull the hardest) but oh well. I have I/E/Clutch/Flywheel (possibly a closer race with a GReddy Header?)
Get some juice and you'll forget you ever seen GT tail lights. It's the best $500 bucks you can spend.
lol a 75 shot isnt going to keep him from seeing 05+ GT tail lights. They're putting down ~255 rwhp and 283 torque. Modded, with just an intake and exhaust, those cars are putting down almost 30 more whp.

+1. You would need nitrous just to hang with a stock one.

When they first came out, I saw a stock one at the track. He hit a 13.9!
How to keep up...turbo kit!
That's a decent time, but they can run faster than that in stock form. I have seen 13.5-13.6's bone stock, and with a few choice bolt-ons for a few hundred bucks, they can easily be into the 12's in a quarter mile. They are the fastest GT's yet and respond very well to modifications. I wouldn't mess with one in a prelude unless you are heavily modded AND forced induction.

No way. The mustang is heavier and will have some grunt to get moving but The prelude has a set of short gears, 75 extra ponies will be a night and day difference. I've had no problem taking a mustang when my car was automatic. Traction is going to be the biggest problem. With my automatic having taller gears than the 5 speed I would just roll to about 10-15 then juice it to avoid wheel spin.
I have a question has anybody EVER raced a gaystang gt EVER the new ones are not that fast little kids. O and why does it have to be a gt to beat a prelude (which they cant) What are the non gt models to slow? O wait they are all SLOW. You DONT need spray. No way a gaystang ran 13.6 stock buddy.

Meh...4.6 with a solid rear axle...its been the same car is the 1960's its an American staple car, Cheap and sporty. The only up side is the cobra, which has the Independent rear but from what I hear it squats hard and has lots of wheel hop, on top of having to share the same sheetmetal as the v6.
guys guys guys.....
mustangs are nice cars....just not for me.... lol
but my question is whyare the 05-present GT's supposed to be so fast???
they have they same 4.6 motor that the GT's have had for quite some time...
let's tak about this...lol
-New Mustangs have 3 valve heads. The older 4.6 mod has a 2 valve head.
-New Mustangs have an aluminum block. Outgoing car used an iron block.
-New Mustang uses variable cam timing.
Just because both engines have the same displacement does not mean they are the same...
I beat a 06' buttstang in my lude by 2 car lengths when i had it prety much stock.....wow alot has happened over the years......but any way the stang has to much wheel-power with not enough rubber= big traction issues......and also mybone stock 96 camaro rs v6-automatic ownson new gt stangs.......all being said they are crap!
