I hope it's a stick shift Prelude. If she launches good and keeps it in VTEC when shifting it shouldn't be a problem. The 200HP Firebirds are no slouches, especially off line. See my kill a few threads down, wasn't a problem in my 93 VTEC even with a crappy launch.
One of my best friends has an auto V6 firebird that I have raced many times. From a roll a firebird is a joke I can take easy and from a stop I can put about 1.5-2 cars on him with an ok launch (I have no mods). If you have a standard defiantly race him if you have an auto I would be careful I have seen him kill an auto 5gen before.
Ps. A standard Firebird and A prelude are real close in the 1/4.

hooollllllllllddddddddddd on your telling me that a Firebird will loose to a prelude i raced one in the highway the guy toyed with me!!
99 Firebird dont they have 350hp ?!?!
Yeah, the LS1's, which have 325 hp, can run high 12's stock, but that's rare. I know several people that have done it though. I've raced a couple LT1's. They're a closer match than the LS1's.
