5th gen lude vs SRT-4

For the first time, I raced a SRT-4. well not really a race..

I was driving home with my friend in my car from my other friend's house..
de-tuning he's 12sec WRX..

bored, driving down local street around 11:00pm, no cars visible.
Just about when I was getting tired of looking for a prey, blue neon came out of no where.

First thing me and my bud check, go behind he's rear and check out the badge.
Nonetheless, big wing and SRT-4 badge was shining..

me and my bud laughed, say why not.

we both floored it, I don't know what gear was he in, but I tried my best.
Few runs, I thought I kept up pretty good. One race, I wind through 2nd and 3rd..
I was on he's rear, him pulling, but to my surprise, not too fast.

Met him at local parking lot, and talked. he said he didn't even try, and that he has stage 2 in it.
First he said its stock, then he said stage 2. I believe its totally stock, judging on the sound of the SRT-4.

Im going to meet him again and set up a real race and get it on video.
stay tuned fellas. this will be interesting.....and... embrassing.

which one would be more embrassing?

from a stop or from a roll?

im confident in launching.. and from a roll.. all you gotta do is floor it fast enough in right gear..

i know either way i'll get murdered, but which battle ground would be better?

from a dig would be embarrasing... 70-120 I pulled a car on a stage 2.

from a roll it seems they have nothing.. one could barely edge me out on the highway, and he had a few mods done.. i have a type S intake.. but from a dig.. forget it.. i wanna try again tho just to see how bad i get beat with a good launch

my friend has a stage 1 srt and an intake...he pulls about a car on me through 3rd gear based on the fact that thing is hard as **** to launch (250+trq = no traction).

but now he has a waste gate actuator, downpipe, and exhaust to add to that. He kills me.

O and ludehawk, im sorry dude but you did not pull a stage 2 srt4 from 70-120, I call complete bs on that based on the fact your best time is a 14.2 and srt-4's on stage 2 run low 13's..

Well...ludehawk is not a good example of a '5th Gen'. He's puting a lot more power to the ground than a stock 5th gen...and more than most 5th Gens driving around on the street. That being said, I kind of raced a stock SRT-4 on the highway. I had I/E, Clutch/Flywheel, and I was testing it out to see if I gained anything up top through 3,4, and 5th. Well...I passed him at about 130mph while he was going around 70 or 75. I slowed down at around 140'ish as I was coming up to an exit/entrance to an Interstate and proceeded to get on it from about 60. As I was getting up to about 80, I saw the SRT-4 coming up the on-ramp, and I could tell he was booking. I got up to around 140mph and he walked by me pretty quickly. So to say they have no top end is not accurate. We then proceeded to pull over on the side of the road and talk for almost an hour. Cool guy, and I really like the cars. I hope they prove to be reliable enough to be a double duty car.

what are you saying? I put down 184/153 down on the dyno recently in 99% humidity and 100 degree weather. his sig says 189 whp so he cannot possibly be that much faster then me ...plus my best quartermile time is only 2 tenths of a second worse then his..I dont understand how you get the idea of him putting more power down to the ground then a normal old 5th gen.

Im not trying to completely rule out that he beat an srt-4, but a stage 2..please . Stage 2 srt-4's with traction are EASILY low 13's, and no top end...yea right. srt-4's push most boost thru there 3rd and 4th gears.

Well...you qouted me, and then still tried to put words in my post. I said he is putting down a lot more power than a stock 5th gen. Yours isn't stock, is it? ...and then I proceeded to say that he puts down more than most 5th gens driving around on the street. Most does not mean all...at least in Oklahoma it doesn't.

Part of the point of racing from a roll is that driver skill has very little to do with it. Any monkey can shift fast. 3/4 of the skill in a straight line race is getting the car moving.

that's true i agree.. but truth be told through my experiences, some monkeys cant downshift if their lives depended on it, nor do they know which gear they should be in sometimes for their car's maximum power at certain speeds..
