5g Prelude vs v8 camaro

I was coming home late on Saturday night and I pull up next to a z28 camaro. It was an older model, (not the new new style - Looked similar to kit from night rider).

Anyway it had duel exhaust so I knew It was a v8 model. I take off fast and in first and then shut it down cause the next light was RED. I roll my window down this time and ask this guy "Hey you wanna run". HE says to me Naw man!! I said come on you have a v8 for **** sakes. He then builds up all this courage and says firmly "Lets go"!! I was like Wicked.

HE Revs up this thing, it sounded good. I rev mine up. Before the light turned green I realized that I was revving a little beyond 5000 rpm. Boom light turns green and we are off. He lets out a mad
burn out and I engage above 5000 grand. My car bounces like 2 times
and then I hook up. At this point his bumper is at about my door.
I shifted to second at about 7900 on my tach, and pulled another 1 car length.

My Second to Third shift was so wicked. I shifted at around 7900 again and I have never felt a shift go so smooth and it felt so perfect.

By the end of the race up to about 130 km, I was easily up by 3 or 4 car lengths.

I slow down and he pulls up. I look at him with great disapointment and say "Man you just lost to a 4 banger" . And he says to me "Oh that is cause my clutch is so ****ty, and he says lets go again. I agreed. However there was no light insight so I say lets go from a punch (I figured i would lose this time). Anyway he said to me
"NAW I don't think we should" yaydayadayay (what a *****) he just kept complaining, so since I already kicked his ass I turned off at the next exit since I had missed my exit while racing. This guy was just embarrasssed.

Anyway one more for the H22a. Those cameros are slow.
If it were the 94 + models I would have been smoked.
However, I find most people cannot drive there cars properly in
racing situations.

Are you sure you're racing? When i race there's nothing smooth about my shifts..each one puts me into my seat

I guess I should be more clear.

Its really hard to explain. I shifted very quickly and
the gear went in and car did not jerk or anything. It just kept
accelerating quickly. I guess smooth is no the right word to use.

Trust me I was racing. Maybe racing on a slight slope has something to do with it.

Well it was fun.

Not really.

After kicking the **** out of that older z28 I have so much more
respect for my car. I can't wait to race a celica. I tell ya, if you know how to drive the prelude it will move!

nice kill

just so you know why your shift was smooth was because you left your gas pedal down more than you usually do. The reason you get that jerky feeling is because you are disengaging the clutch much more rapidly then you are applying throttle in the new gear. Go practice quick shifts with 50% throttle. It may scare you at first but try it its easy when you get used to it and you'll start getting nice smooth chirps.

I shift so fast I don't even realize what I am doing.
I have been driving stick since I was 13. Always playing with my
fathers toys. Shifting comes so easy to me.

Man, that is the second z28 I have raced and spanked off the line.
I know for a fact that a 3rd gear punch I would get beat. SInce I lost to one before.
