you will, you might be better off racing from a start, and hoping he dumps his clutch and just loses all traction, while you still have somewhat traction. but he'll still catch up to you, and smoke you.

Upgrages:
CP CAI w/ K&N Filter, OBX Header, OBX High-Flo CAT, Rear Seat Removed( I'm building a custom system Back there , ACT Stage 1 Street Clutch, ACT Extreme Pressure Plate, Xact Prolite Flywheel, Valve Cover Mod, 4bidden's Short Throw Shifter, Kumho Exctas on stock wheels
found out he also has intake, headers, and pulleys to go along with his mod list.
I'll give him a run for his money from a roll once I get my exaust + header put on.
Another one of my 5th gen friend's lude has every bolt-on with tuned v-afc, says he walks early 90's stangs as well with the same bolt-ons... haven't seen him actually do it, just by word of mouth
Talk is cheap...
never raced a 5.0 here....a friend of mine back in college had one that wasnt street legal but took it to the track whenever he could... He let me drive it once...killa burnouts...
if you want to win, race from a 40mph roll... it will be too high in rpms in 2nd for him, and too low in 3rd (3rd gear sucks in near stock 5.0).. and it will be that sweet spot for a prelude in 2nd.. it depends alot on what year, style, convertable, gear, tires, traction.. i have seen stock or near stock 5.0 run 13s all day long, but i have also seen more modded auto convertables that are horrible..
have fun running him.. it's interesting to watch the different powerbands go at it..
