4th gen base model S Lude Vs. y2k v6 Stang

Last night my friends came over to visit, one brought his uncle's manual V6 2001 mustang. He let me test drive it, engine was really noisy but it felt really slow redling thru the gears. I was reading on the net how u could get high 14s with a good driver, now im really doubting it at this point.

well i wanted to see how my lowly 92' S model lude would do against the v6 torque monster, so my other friend(who drives a CRX, fairly good driver) and I, line up to the stoplight, revving and him talking smack about how hes gonna smoke me so bad.
So red, yellow(opposite light), Green!, were off. i launched at about 4k we both got little wheelspin 2nd, i was about a quarterpanel ahead, 3rd almost 1.5 cars ahead! wow i can't believe it! flipped my hazzards, and we both shut down around 85mph..

he couldnt believe he lost, so we bust a U and go again from a 30mph roll, again it's pedal to the metal, he has about a quarterpanel lead, then its 2nd,3rd, blam before i knew i was at half a car length on him! so we shut down and headed back to my place.

THERe IS HOPE FOR THE SOHC LUDE!
btw my only mods are: DC sports Catback exhaust, AEM cai.. wow now I cant wait till i get my JDM H22 at teh end of summer!

v6s? Why not go for the v8s? I have raced and betten a new cobra. we started racing at 45mph, i slammed 2nd than third pulled a car and a half until the next light that he ran! You can beat a v8. The prelude has hidden powers I think I was suprised!!!!!

heheh good kill. haha no they're nowhere near high 14s. you're prolly both in the high 15 low 16 range hence why you beat him by a lil. Good run for the lowly S, go rape the v8's with the jdm h22

the ONLY way a V-6 will keep up is if u do a rolling from about 70. i races a kid in a auto v-6 stang from 70 and i couldnt pull on him, but he did get a good jump on me cuz i hesitated cuz i thoght a cop was on my ass...he refused to race me from a standing start....lol he had some girls in his car, mind u these are high school chicks... but when we got done we pulled over to discuss and the girls got out and said "we wanna ride home in the fast car" and hopped in with me....lol he was fuming....PRELUDE POWER!!! hahaha

i raced a manual v6 stang from rolling start @ 70mph... he had a slight head start, then i dropped to 3rd then floored it... by the time i reached about 130mph, he was a speck in my rear view mirror...

I was in my 98 Lude SH cruising at about 65-70 on the highway when I look in my rearview mirror and see a Z28 approaching quickly. He gets along side of me and looks over and grins.

We both punch it, and I downshift to third and when I look back at 120 mph I look back and see him MANY car lengths behind me. Here comes the bad news...

We end up both getting off the highway and meet up at a light. He rolls down his window and says "Your car has some balls...lets see how it runs from a stop". We both takeoff at at light and he promptly hands my ass to me.

Needless to say, the Prelude DOES have hidden powers! You just have to know how to use them...and when to not push it (like I did at the line even though I knew I was gonna get pounded on).

Not to burst your bubble, but he probably wasn't racing you on the freeway..... I love my lude, but a new body Z28 with the corvett LT1 heads will smoke our asses any day at any speed

Have any of you guys raced a old body 5.0, or a Type-R? Share your experiences.
