240sx vs. Mustang (video)

First off these are both my cars. I am not saying that braggingly, I just want everyone to know that I don’t show favoritism. I’ve had the mustang for 7 years now, and I still love it. It is and will always be my baby. A year or so ago, I wanted a better car to daily drive. Well I am still in the boy racer mode, and wanted something I enjoy driving (read sporty) after a long obsession with Honda Preludes, I finally got enough money to buy one and fix it up a little bit. I tried for a couple weeks, but couldn’t find one that I liked. One day at work, we had a 96 Nissan 240sx come through the wholesale lot. I knew I could pick it up for cheap, and something like this I couldn’t pass by. I love the way it drove, felt, and hugged the road. After having it for a couple days the timing chain tensioner went out and it was time to fix it. Well even though I told myself many times I was never going to let the Nissan become a money pit, it did anyways. I (as well as friends) talked myself into an SR20 swap, and thus it began. I have had the car done and broken in for a couple days now, and all in all; I would do again in a heartbeat. Long story short, I love both cars for different reasons. But we decided to make a video anyways. The 2 cars and mods are as follows:

1995 Ford Mustang GT
Tremec 3550 5-Speed Conversion
TrickFlow Street Heat Intake
Spec Stage 3 Clutch
3.55 Gear
1.7 Roller Rockers
70mm TB
73mm Mass Air
Cold Air Intake
Underdrive Pulleys
Full Exhaust (Shorties, OR H, Flows)
Cobra Rs and Full Body Kit (for that extra weight)

1996 Nissan 240sx S14
Redtop SR20DET (set at stock 7psi)
Spec Stage 2
Greddy FMIC
3in. Downpipe
Custom 3in. Exhaust with 3in Magnaflow Muffler
Hotpipe w/ HKS SSQV
APEXI AVC-R (not connected until the day after the race)

I drove the Nissan with my girlfriend in it (she filmed) and my buddy drove the mustang with 2 passengers. All of the races are about the same, but I think this one is the best or at least the clearest. 3rd Gear roll at about 55mph in both cars.

Enjoy

I think I ran it once with the 5-speed conversion. It ran mid 14s with a 2.0 60foot.. it gets out of the whole quite well.. it just falls on it's face on high end..

I rode in it last night and it's definitely fast. It certainly feels like a 13 sec. car but you know how that is. Every time I ride in one of these I remember that's what mine will feel like on the street and it blows my mind.

BTW, it would've probably felt a little faster had the rear wheels been putting any power to the ground in 2nd.

the sr is a cheaper and much easier swap.. and the power and potential are relatively the same.. thats just from what i have read.. it's probably people that worship the SR but that's ok..

tell him good luck for me.. and it's totally worth it..
