2001 Prelude vs 1st gen Turbo Eclipse

A turbo eclipse pulled up to me last night. I rolled my window down and he complimented my ride, I complimented him back. We were rolling at 15 mph trying to catch a stop light together, but it never worked out. We decided to go from a rolling start. I downshifted and so did he, I heard him spin his wheels as his turbo spooled up. We pretty much tied. We both had to avoid some traffic. He said he was running on his stock 14g turbo. He probably had the boost turned up, I saw a gauge on his a-pillar and he had an aftermarket blow off valve. I can't wait to get a turbo!

Sounds like a fun race. You gotta be careful when you race those DSM's

i raced a friend w/ the exact same car....from a stand still and from a roll..he got the jump on me both times....from a stand still.....his AWD gave him the edge...and when we went from a rolling start..he probably got a 1/2 second head start...both times i was pinned to his bumper...at the time, i can remember that he definitely had an aftermarket exhaust system along w/ a downpipe..maybe more mods but i can't remember...

fwd1g dsm's will eat a prelude alive with even a couple of mods.

they go low 14's easily with traps near 97-8mph with only air filter, exhausts.

an awd is bye-bye.

i just recently added a k&n air filter for $40 on my gvr4. seriously, the power difference is amazing. just from $40. they say you gain a good 10whp and about 10-15lb.tq with just the filter. dyno proven.

I have friend that we have been working on a 90 Laser(DSM) and it is also FWD. That car is so fast he passes me like i'm standing still. Even when I get the jump when i'm infront of him it don't matter!!!
He has a Big 16G turbo, down pipe exhaust and countless other stuff. With the one wheel drive spinning out of control he runs 13's all day!!!! We are finishing putting the tranny back in with the Phantom grip and that should cut about .5 sec out of the 1/4 mile. And the kicker of all this is that he only has $3000 in the car, and that including the cost of the car!!!! We pulled it out of a field with a burnt up turbo.
I love the Lude and would not trade it in but the car that you raced had to be stock and probably with the MBC up to about 14-15psi. After that the turbo can not keep up. And besides the stock turbo is a 14b.
I have run a bunch of the stock turbos they are not too much to worry about, there 1,2nd gears are really fast but there 3rd is not that good and that is where i allways pull away!!
Way to represent the lude

i dunno about that...i ran my friends 1G eclipse FWD from a stop...hes boosting 17-18lbs i think on stock turbo and just upgraded his fuel pump...thats all he did at the time...i have a 01 prelude 5spd...when we took off i was infront at the beginning and 2nd gear i was pullin more...when i shifted into third i was half a car ahead but once he shifted into third my half a car lead turned into like him up 3 cars and still going in a matter of like 2 seconds...after that we just stopped cuz he could have gotten another good 5 cars easy...at least he was impressed that i was up on him through the first 2 gears...of course he has to take it easy in 2nd cuz when he fully spools hes tires break loose

What mods do you have??? 17-18lbs on a stock turbo? He should've walked away from you unless you have lots of mods...

he pretty much did walk me...i only have i/e...i think i might have out drove him for the first 2 gears, after that it wasn't a drivers race...plus i dont think he can push it that hard in 1 and 2nd cuz hes still on stock tires...he gets NO grip with them so chances are if he REALLY did push it, he would have broke loose his tires...
