2000+ eclipse definately faster than 97+ ludes ?? - Honda Prelude Forum

well...
i used to have a 2000 sport shift eclipse.... but totaled it and got a 98 MT base prelude....

i think both cars are nice but i never raced either the eclipse or prelude so i don't know how they compare...

but anyways at

many people think our car is definately slower than thiers and having both eclipse and the prelude i think i agree with them...
it has to be the torque that eclipse has i think...
when it comes to look, preludes dominate

your opinion?!?!

well....My friend has a 2001 Eclipse GT auto. He DOES have 200hp/200 tq. So from a stop I think they would kill us, but from a roll, I think we shuold be able to take them....never really tried....maybe one day I will race him and see what happens

i raced a 2003 tiptronic GT. i didnt use SS mode. off the line i pulled a lil into vtec. then he gained. we were basically even until we shut down around 80. so if i was even and we were both auto, then the manual would tkae the auto, and manual vs manual would be all up to the driver. oh yea, my engine mod was aem cai.

i raced a gts sportshift on the highway and pulled on him real bad when i downshifted to 4th and kept it in vtec range. I guess top end we should win but i dunno about off the line

I raced a manual GTS from a stop and had about 2 cars on him by third. Could have been a bad driver though... BTW I'm a 5spd as well.

i have a 5-speed prelude. i have beaten maybe 3 5-speed eclipse gt's since i have bought the car. i have rode in a 5-speed eclipse gt, and it was nice, and has some good torque. but felt NO faster than my car. funny thing is i rode in the eclipse before i got my car.. eclipse felt bulky... but man was it roomy!!! i then nicknamed it the japanese grand-am..

i raced a buddy of mine and he has a 2000 eclipse rs with intake and exhaust. i smoked him pretty bad, i thought by about 4 car lengths, others said 5-6 cars. i have i/e/p. i've never raced a gt though.

the new eclipse are not a problem for a manual lude, i smoke a few but haven't gotten smoke by one. Eclipse use to be fast when they have GSX and GST yes the turbo one, they are slightly quicker then ours if they know how to launch.

new gt's have pretty good top end, but the sporty (their nickname for SS) is really sluggish at launch. handles like crap too. my friend has a sporty with just a CAI. btw headers for that thing supposedly adds 30hp with a tuned safc.

I have a 97 ss lude and my mom has a 2k ss eclipse gt. I can honestly say that her car pics up quicker than mine. Her top end sucks ass though. I think on a roll auto vs auto wed take em for sure. Off the line would be a different story though I think.

I raced a GT 5spd when I was bone stock and I took him by 2 cars up to 80, and I'm SS. From a roll you shouldn't have a problem, but from a stop, if the guy knows how to launch he'll more then likely beat you.

I've raced a GT modded with i/e and I only had CAI from a roll off and I beat him too. Haven't tried it from a stop.

A 5 speed lude should be able to take a stock GSX. My SS lude could just about keep up with one from a roll...at the time I had I/H/E/P (aka, 8 more HP

Stock for Stock a GSX would beat a 5th gen lude off the line because it has AWD and turbocharged. I'm sure the 5th gen lude would have more top end so from a 60 mph roll off it would be a good race.

Not sure about the 2000+ eclipses but my cousin has a 99 GSX stock. We just ran at the track on Saturday and he was only able to run low 16's. I would think they should be faster than that. Maybe he got a lemon?

the gsx's and gst are faster than the new eclipses, low 16's damn he must not be a good driva cuz stock they should pull low 15's to high 14's....but mistsupieceoshiet still sux in my book, they can be alot faster but are not as reliable and a pain in the ass to maintain. my boy had a 97 gst and blew 3 motors!!!
