'01 Prelude w/SS VS. New Mustang GT convertible

I was heading east bound on I-20 on my way to Monroe saturday, when in the left lane blocking my mojo was a new body style mustang gt convertible. You know red, waxed, top down, chick in the passenger seat, guy with receding hairline driving with his hat on, etc. I pull up behind him and sit for about 20secs, and when he checks his rearview and see's me he immediatly down shifts (car's ass dips) and guns it. I then use that mad fast SS and go to 3rd . So after he pulled away from getting the head start he slows down due to a car in the left lane. I slow down too an am behind him.

Once, we clear the traffic he pulls into the right lane and guns it. I could tell he would so I wasn't late getting into 3rd. I'd say I shifted .5 secs after him, and VTEC just kicked in YO! I began to catch up to his car and when I got beside him I went into 4th and pulled away. After I got about 3 lengths on him he left off the gas, and I proceded to slow down to my normal I-state speeds and cruise. He never caught back up to me I guess he felt bad, that he can't drive or preludes from a roll at 70-80 are faster.

I was riding with a friend that had a 65 shot, I/E/P and we pulled on an '05 Mustang GT. We didn't walk it by any means, just a slow pull that ended up with about .75 car length a head after a 50-110ish run.

But I still can't tell if you're joking or not. But you're either

1)joking and being extremely vague about it as to cause confusion
2)lying
3)you pulled a V6 and not a GT... and I still don't think you'd pull a V6 in an SS

No chance! I have raced a 03 Mustang GT convertible from a stop and once he hit third he left me as if I was standing still...I have been in my friends 05 Mustang GT and it is ridiculously faster than my 5th gen with bolt-ons and e-manage

An SS would lose in a straight line to either a V6 or a V8 Stang. Perhaps you were mistaken and the guy wasn't actually trying to race, or he was in the all wrong gear. When my car was SS, I raced a friend for sh1ts, and he won (with a 4th gen H23 AUTOMATIC). I also could not keep up with an Acura MDX. SS Preludes are extremely slow cars, /story.

^ I know mustang GTs are "fast", but IMO they suck. handle poor, ugly (less ugly with the new gen. though), poor stopping, outdated ineffecient engines, etc.

Sure they are supposed to win at a drag (and do), but they don't feel fast when you drive them though.

I think in years after 70s ford has ruined the mustang name 80s, 90s,etc. My fav. the charger just got a few years to rock, but now dodge has brought it back as a SEDAN!?

maybe...he wasn't racing you? Only logical explanation. =] He could have possibly just gunned it without trying to race you.
