00 Type R vs The Before JRSC Lude !

Well, before my Lude goes into the shop to get the JRSC installed my best friend and i wanted to race. I wanted to see how much a diffrence it will make after i get the JRSC installed.

My boy drives a 2000 Type R with AEM CAI/Headers/Exhaust

We go to our usual place where we race at. Nice, wide long road. at least 3 miles or more. I havent raced my boy's Type R yet, but i do know that he should beat me. Just wanted to race for fun.

Ok So we Line up.... now im thinking time to show my driving Skill
and Yes i went to the 99 Prelude LC launch school I rev up to 5.5k (i know suppose to launch at 6k) and i know my clutch is thinking o gawd not the 99 Prelude LC launch !! We had no flagger just he and I. My boy calls out the go.. 3-2-1- GO ! so he gets the advantage their. I modulate the cluth and gas very well and BAM! im out the hole first I pulled instantly on him .. i hear him spinning his tires.. I shift into second...chirp the tires... i still have the lead.. his nose is at my Bumper....Shift into 3rd and i still have the lead..... speed is reaching around 85 mph.... the Type R starts coming up. i hear the Type R shift into 4th and he's nose is at my door..comming up to 90 i shift to 4th gear...... the Type R pulls on me and Starts walking away..... Damn i couldnt belive how Hard the Type R can pull in 3rd and 4th gear.... I thought our Lude where Highway Killers ! but damn. I follow Suit....Type R keeps pulling ...we Shut down around 115mph...
I may have beat him in the 1/4 mile but who knows ....he passed me when i shifted into 4th gear at 90mph ..i dont know our ludes Trap speed in the 1/4. BTW i didnt do any Power Shifting in this Race. Shifted at 8k and stayed in VTEC through all the Gears, even at Launch.

We pull over...my boy goes " gawd Damn! you killed my ass in your launch" So we decied to run again ... but this time i deceied to do a diffrent launch.. Lets See the Diffrence SHall we

We Line up and i get the advanatage this time i get to call the Go. I rev Up to 3.5k 3-2-1 Go! AND I DUMP THE CLUTCH . Wheel Hop.. I Barely Beat the Type R out of the hole... This race was not a good One... He killed me .. Quit in 3rd gear.. no point Type R stomped on me..

Ok Now We do a 20 mph Roll and Punch It. I get the Call.. Bam were off ... Type R pulls on me in Second and Third ... Race was over in Third Gear ....

This time we did 50mph Roll.. since most highway races occur around at that speed.. Again i get to Call.... 3-2-1 Go ! I take off in second Gear .... Lude has the Lead ... Shift to 3rd ... Lude still has the lead ... near the End of 3rd gear around 85mph .. Type R starts to walk...Type R passes me When he is in 4th gear and im just getting into 4th gear.

We Race One more time...from a dead Stop..I use the 99 prelude LC launch.. Same out come ..but this time Type R gets a better launch. Lude keeps the lead in 1st, 2nd, 3rd, Type R Pulls ....

We Get back to the House and I put him through the "99 prelude LC School" he watches the Video and says damn.. lets race again and im gonna try his Technique.....I say NO ! we Race again after i get the JRSC installed he gives me the :finger:

Anyways..i have a greater respect for the Type R.. especially since i get to borrow his car for a few days while my Lude gets the JRSC install if you Thought our VTEC is loud when we hit VTEC.... you should hear the Type R's .....that damn thing is so Loud when it hits VTEC at 6k rpms..

Big props for 99 Prelude LC.... thanks bro for showing us Lude owners the Technique..

Hey LC,

You have a video of your "Launching Technique", i wanna learn. I've already checked out you're description in the FAQ's. Just wanna see it first hand from the "master". Could you post it? Thanks.

2nv: haha great racing man, thats EXACTLY how we do it around here. All the setups You did very very well, I get my ass handed to me by the same mods on a type R. Tell your friend to get a VAFC, even untuned it will kick some major ass with his mods. He could possible break into the 13s with it set right, its been done before with that combo. Definately get some videos of your jrsc lude. If you have a camera and don't have any way to put on the computer, just send me a vhs tape, i'll do it

Thanks for the props on the launch. Somebody has my launch video hosted, let me find the link and i'll post it here

great story, 10 times better than all the other lousy stories i usually read on here , haha
All those scenarios sound exactly how they should be considering the mods on both cars, those ITRs pull like a focker in 4th gear!

Great runs!!! You're quite a story teller. I thought the Preludes had a great sound at the VTEC crossover but the other day I rode in my uncles ITR and when he hit VTEC I almost passed out. That is the only other car (in the Ludes prices range) that I'd rather have. Well, I take that back, I love my Lude too much to have that type of affair .

there would be no point in doing the "LC launch" if you didn't have vtec..or some other form of narrow power band focused in the upper RPMs..

very nice. those itr's do pull like crazy uptop. if you don't have them by a good distance down low chances are they'll pull you over 100mph if they can drive of course.

but i've seen more then a handful of itr's run very low 14's with the mods you list that your friend has. seen a few even do 14.5 with just an intake. and of course have seen some do high 15's. go figure.

I've never been in ITR but how does the vtec compare to the S2000. When I drive my friends S2000 I wanna wet myself when Vtec kicks in and it screams up to 9000rpm.
