Will a double din fit in the 5th gen? I was looking at this Alpine

I want to use the Alpine IVA-W200 but can I make this fit in the car? I want to use the factory trim piece and hvac controls.

Thanks,
Jeff

Yeah they fit All you need is a kit (mostly for the trim ring around the radio) take a look at the other topic in this forum you can see pictures of mine.

you can most likely just use your stock radio brackets. I have 2 seperate radios in my car, and I just used the stock radio brackets and it works just fine. I have an indash being powered by the radio itself

Thanks guys.

Do you think this double din adapter would work with the Alpine IVA-W200:

http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_4511.html

So, I would just put the Alpine unit in the above adaptor and then it would bolt right into the car with no modifications?

Thanks,
Jeff

I don't like the scosche kits, they try to be too universal and just feel cheap imho. I am not saying it wont work I'm just saying I don't trust scosche. Like prelude 1897 said you might be able to get it to fit with the stock bracket. I would have the metra kit by my side just in case though. Get it from a local place with a good return policy.

Off topic but have you seen the IVA-W205 yet? If your looking at using the w200 with the blackbird nav you might want to wait for the 205. It has the docking station built into the head unit, you just open the face and there is a huge slot where the new blackbird slides in. Much cleaner than the 200 with the separate wired docking station that is an extra 200 bucks btw.

+1

There's no need to buy something you don't need when your stock parts will work just fine

anyone done this yet with the iva-w200? i just bought one and was looking at it. the radio cage does not fit into the honda trim peice. it might if i trimmed it. if i use just the brackets there is a huge gap all around the radio. maybe i will need a kit after all.

I'm actually going to be getting the same radio pretty soon for my other car

You shouldn't need the cage that comes with the radio, it should mount into the bracket the stock radio mounts to.

You don't need the cage at all...DEF. use the stock brackets. Also if there's a gap...you can try the aftermarket trim kits but i think it looks fine....

I believe this is WITH trim kit...but not 100% sure...

I think it looks like ass w/o a trim filling in the gap. So either buy the scoche kit or fabricate your own out of a sheet of abs plastic.

On a side note... whoever designed that Alpine unit is a freaking bastard. Freaking huge remote brain and idiotic wiring design to/from it.

LOL...i guess when you put them next to each other it looks like a$$...

The Eclipse was CAKE to install...no brain to hide. Install was just like a regular headunit FTW (with the exception of the speed sensor wire).
