Why did my Eclipse 5423 sound better than my new AVN6620?

This isn't in a Prelude... this is in a 2001 4Runner.

I had a cheap Eclipse 5423 basic single din cd player in there for about a year and it sounded great. Could crank it up, bass was strong and no distortion. Same power rating as the AVN6620, however, after installing the new Navi unit, I am very disappointed with the sound quality. I know Eclipse has changed a bit over the past years, but I didn't think their sound quality would.

Any thoughts or suggestions?

Everything is connected correctly as the Toyota harness is a direct plug into for Eclipse units since they make the factory Navi for Toyota now.

^^ I have no idea. Figured it would sound the same if not better since it is about 3-4 years newer than the deck I had in there.

Purchased some dyno-mat extreme for the doors to see if that would help. I would really like to stay away from having to purchase an external amp.

But Chris, two different units will always produce a different quality because of the sound processing components used. The AVN6620 also has video processing components which in turn force the engineers to change the electronics components to fit everything into the given casing.
