Upgrade System = ABS light

I just completed my system recently. Alpine HU, Koda Comps, Comp Amps, Sub and sub Amp. Now everytime I turn the volume up and the subwoofer is ON, the ABS light would come ON. When I turn the volume very low, the ABS light would turn OFF. My wiring is fine becuase the system sounds great and the amplifiers are hooked up correctly. Maybe Electrical Interference??? Help

Where did I buy the wires? - Knuconcepts amp kits. I have 0 guage wires for power and grounds. RCAs are very good quality pieces.

Where I tapped my connections? From battery power teminal - I have two wires coming out. Power for the car, Power for two amps using a 2 into 1 distro block. I have two fuses after the distro to each amps - I checked the current requirements and the fuses are correct.

I think theres some kind of magentic interference going on with the ABS sensor and its wirings. Where is the ABS sensor located? Maybe one of my power wires are too close to it creating some sort of interference. Thanks for your reply

The actual ABS sensors are down on the hubs of the wheels, I doubt those are the problems.

But it's very possible you've got wires running near/on/around the ABS processing unit itself - it's bolted on the right side of the passenger footwell, 8 inches up or so iirc. So you could check that out & try moving any wiring in that vicinity farther to the center of the car.

If it's not some kind of EMF there, I have no idea.

Im trying to visualize the location from where are saying it is. Can you be more specific because I have wires running from both sides of the car from the installation. I know you said passenger side footwell <--- By your foot I guess when your sitting back there? Or is it by your thighs kinda. I need a quick resolution to this because this ABS light is hurting my eyes, most importantly last thing I need is my ABS failing on me.

If you're sitting in the passenger seat, it's down by your right ankle/shin.

Now that's not good, for I have power wires running through there for my Amplifiers. Is there anything I can do to shield the unit, maybe wrap it something rubber. I can probably wrap the wires instead- Any ideas on what I can use to prevent EMF.

Yeah, it's extremely common for people's power wires & whatnot to run right by there, which is why I'd be surprised if that was the source of the problem. I've never heard of it happening with anyone else, but it seems to be all we have to go on for now . . . .

Not sure what you could try - maybe wrap the wires with electrical tape & line the underside of the carpet with some tin-foil? I've gotten rid of some speaker whine on crappy wire by wrapping the points where they crossed a power line with electrical tape, so who knows.

But again, I don't even know if that's the source of the problem. It could be something totally different.

My RCA's came with a remote wire built in so I connect the two remote leads to the Alpine 9833 HU and the 2 RCAs to their perspective Amplifiers and connected thier remote wires.

these are my RCA's

Try this to shield from EMF:
http://www.davidnavone.com/detail.as...UCT_ID=N-EMR-C

But I'd start by temporarily moving the wires. Run them outside your car and see what happens (assuming you can replicate the problem without driving).

The other option is to check the connections on all the ABS-related equipment. Maybe something's loose and the bass vibration causes intermittent problems. Where do you have the Kodas installed? Those things put out a good amount of bass, maybe the one on the passenger side is vibrating the ABS control module too much.

Those things aint cheap bro.
I actually just bought a sound deadener to keep the car from rattling for my trunk and doors. The only thing is that it has to be over 50 degrees outside otherwise it wont stick. So looks like Ill be waiting a few more weeks to put them on. Ill put some around the ABS module too.
Do Vibrations like that really drive the ABS sensor crazy? If thats the case then Ill just put a dampener of some sort to the sensor <-- where are these located?

Yeah the Koda comps are great for Midbass. But the subwoofer is mostly doing all the work of vibrating inside my car. Very nice though, definately a great mod if your into music.
The only negative that I can think of is the amount of weight it adds to an already fat car-but I dont really speed anymore, just cruise mostly bumpin my beats.

Step #1 would be to see which code the ABS system is throwing so you know where to look...

no matter how much vibration, it will not throw a code. Most likely is a coincidence. Check you voltage with the volume up, and then with your volume down. The light could be due to low voltage at the ABS module. If your amps have a regulated power supply and are not getting the required power they will pull a significant amount of current from the rest of your car.

I have a VAFC and the voltage doesnt really dip that low. maybe 11.8-11.9 V at the lowest when idle. If that was case of not getting enough voltage to the module, why does it still stay on even if I am driving when the voltage is around 13 - 14 V. My battery is a Optima Red Top, not the best to use with a system, but had no problems producing juice to the whole car.

The system is sucking too much power. Even though your car may be reading 12-14volts, you may not be supplying enough current(amps) to the ABS system. If you have your battery installed in the trunk, and you don't use the biggest wiring possible, your ABS light will come on also. I would suggest a second battery just for the system, and adding a capacitor.

Is there such a thing as a "stronger" battery so I wont have to get a second one. Just one to power the whole car and the sytem. Maybe a bigger alternator will be better for me to do?

If you have problems charging your battery then a new alternator would be useful, but if not I wouldn't worry about it. Also most people into car audio upgrade their alternators because they are charging more than one battery and need the extra juice to do it. A 2-3 farad capacitor could probably work just fine alone. I don't know what the size of your system is but if it is very big and draws alot of power, you will need to upgrade the power supply some how to compensate

How many amps is your system pulling when you turn it on?
