planning on swaping the front speakers out
here is what i have in my current mazda that will be going into the prelude, it will be powere by a pioneer 50x4
they are basically the same speaker but i dont think either of them will fit in the doors, the only difference is the frequency, which would be better 60-22000hz or 70-22000hz
I might have missed it, but what gen Prelude do you have? If it's a 5th gen, mounting depth will definitely be an issue. If the Pioneers are 1.75" mounting depth, they may fit without any mods to the speaker basket in the door panel.
The other ones might be too deep so that they hit something (like the window track), even if you cut out the basket. I used some Polk dB 6500's that have about a 2" mounting depth and required a little trimming of the basket and they don't interfere with anything.
Hmmm...I just looked at the last speakers you posted (Visoniks?). I've never heard of those. I think you could get something better (name brand) for a little more. Also, if you have a 5th gen, wouldn't you want components (separate woofer and tweeter with an outboard crossover) to replace the stock ones?
Have you searched the forums for info? There's quite a bit that's been discussed on the topic of what speakers fit. I recommend searching.
sorry
its a 5th gen, i just bought the car last weekend, keeping it in storage till after winter, so i have a little time to work on the interior before it gets really cold
i thought of a getting a speaker/tweeter but i just want a direct swap for fronts, and i was told i can just hook the stock tweeter back into the new speakers, the pioneers will be a great substitute with 120w peak, and 35rms running just off a HU
i have searched alot on this forum, and it is great! lots of useful info that i am using, but i couldn't find anything that mentioned specific mounting depth, but its good to here that the pioneers will fit!
Well those Pioneers are the better choice because they should fit, but it sounds like you aren't exactly "upgrading" from stock with those other 2 options. Plus, the last 2 won't fit without quite a bit of fabrication.
If you plan on using the stock tweeters, you should know they are rated at like 3watts rms (if I remember correctly). So mixing them with different woofers than stock might not work out so well.
Here is a writeup that will help you with the install if you plan on going further than just changing the woofer (from another site, but still helpful):

You aren't powering the tweeters individually off of the deck's channels, so it isn't an issue. The only thing that you might run into is that you might have too much treble when you install the new speakers. That's because you're installing a coaxial speaker (has a tweeter on top of the woofer) instead of a component woofer. But really you have to listen to it to see how you like it. Some of my customers like the way it sounds, and others want the factory tweeter disconnected after a week of driving around with it.

i am not big on sony car audio, but this deck was on sale for a great price and offered alot more features then any pioneer in that price range. Has front USB, AUX, rear IPOD Cable included ($30+ to buy for pioneer deck), Gain control, 52x4 with an RMS of 23.5w pioneers are 22rms.
and best of all, it sounds amazing with stock speakers! but i think i will eventually blow them, the stock speakers say 15w, i guess thats peak, and deck is 23rms,
tried one pioneer speaker mentioned above, compared sound, and the stockers sound better/louder, i guess cause they are overpowered.
question: do i also run the risk of blowing the tweeters?

All speakers need some break-in period. If you really wanna compare, put the Pioneers in for about a week with regular play. Then, make the comparison.
