Sub for trunk... to reserve as much trunk space

So I was at visions today looking at car audio equipment. I am not a car audio guy whatsoever, so bare with me

My setup so far is

Pioneer Deck (w/ ipod attachment)
Focal Front speakers
Pioneer rear speakers
1000w Sony Xplode 4 channel amp powering them.

It sounds pretty good, but is missing the base component, so I was taking a look at some options for a "medium" level setup. I want as much trunk room as possible.

The guy recommended me the

Alpine PLT-5 (5 5inch subwoofers, 400w mono amp) all in this 1 small enclosure. Pretty solid setup in terms of size. Aparently its the equivalent of running 2 Type-S subs. $640 CAD.

I wouldnt mind an enclosure like this, as its easy to pick up like a suitcase, and just take in and out of car. Plus it saves alot of the trunk

Any advice?

I'm sure some will scoff at this, but I used to run an 8" Bazooka sub in my previous car. It had some kick to it, but nothing crazy. I felt it was a good compromise for space.

Right now I wired up my stock rear speakers as a sub. I'm running 160W into each and they're crossed over (LP) at 80Hz (or maybe 100Hz, can't remember). I thought for sure they'd blow in no time, but they're taking a beating and keeping on ticking. There's no real kick to them, just some mid-bass that my Focals in front seem to lack. The rears are quite sloppy and not tight at all, but they do the trick for now. I was considering just getting some cheapo Pioneer 6x9 speaker and drop them in, that should give me some tighter mid-bass but I don't ever expect to get a real kick in the pants effect as you would from a real sub. But I have all that trunk space for my hockey gear, so I'm happy.

EDIT: I've seen the PLT-5, and I think it's not much smaller then a sealed 10" sub. If you're gonna spend the money on a pre-made box, might as well get the JL sealed box units. Can't remember if Visions sells them, but Visions sucks anyway.

I'd run an Infinity Basslink. It's a really nice sounding unit in a small package.
