which speakers to get?

hey guys, not too good w/ speakers and was just wondering what i should get for my setup...

i have 2 10 inch kicker subs w/ a kx1200 amp...thats pretty much it.

i've noticed that there are times where my music gets distorted and its really hard to hear the vocals and figured it was my stock speakers.

what should i do? go with 2-ways or components? im not too sure what the difference is....went to best buy today and the worker guy there said, "one has a tweeter and one doesnt..." i was like wtf? lol

w/ a budget of $100-$200, (im not planning on getting an amp for my speakers anytime soon), what would you guys recommend me getting?

oh, and also how come they dont sell front and rear speakers usually?

just a quick search through eBay... http://cgi.ebay.com/Focal-165-V3-3-W...QQcmdZViewItem

hardly even looked at that but saw that it came w/ "
Includes two 6.5 woofers, two 4 midrange speakers, two tweeters, and two crossovers!" what exactly are those and what does it differ from 2-ways?

sorry for all the questions, but if someone could clear things up for me i would really appreciate it! thanks...

i guess what im really asking is...how can i make the vocals clearer and louder so my car wont sound like a big subwoofer?

Correct - 6.5" front components & 6x9 rears. Do a google or crutchfield search & you'll quickly find the difference between components & 2-ways. I don't know enough to tell you if those are good speakers or not, but wether they will sound their best depends on what other equipment you have. Certainly they will sound 100% only with a separate amp, but they could sound fine to you with just your head unit if you're not too picky & you have an aftermarket HU. If you're still running a stock HU, I'd highly recommend that you look into an aftermarket unit; even the cheaper ones will make your existing speakers sound way better (cleaner, clearer, louder).

edit: I just noticed that you were asking about fitment as well. Buying 6.5" & 6x9 will ensure that the speaker fits into the actual hole, but not that it will fit within the space. The mounting depth for both sets of stock speakers is fairly shallow, so you have to do some modification to get many aftermarket speakers to fit. Head over to crutchfield to get a rundown of the various measurements that are relevant, & then search here about speaker fitment to get an idea of what you'll need to consider.

thanks for the info,

is there anybody that is running components w/o an amp?

my aftermarket HU gives 54watts to each speaker...and the diamond components RMS are 100w, will it have a good chance of blowing? thanks.

Your head unit is putting out 54w max, not rms. If you're not going to go with an external amp I'd try to find speakers that require less power. You'll be losing out on what the speakers can really do. If you turn up the volume you'll get distortion because your under powering them.

The front speakers are more like 6.0". Most 6.5s will not fit without a fair amount of modification. Check Crutchfield for direct-fit options (a few). Most 5.25" separates will come with a 6.0" adapter ring that will work in the 5g.

YOU KNOW MY ANSWER ALREADY.

since you have subwoofers already...I think you should just go all out and get NICE speakers and a nice amp to push them. FORGET about the rear speakers and just run them off the headunit if you really need them. Music is meant to be heard stereo...so just take care of your front stage.

And the guy at best buy is an idiot..... the 2way speakers still have a tweeter....it's in the middle of the cone. LOL.
