So where do I go from here? (amp)

MY stock HU went out so am gettin another, and while im gettin another i figured i would get a small cheap sub to pump it up a bit. well i found a nice deal on a 10'' Eclipse Titanium for $99 so I had to get it. But know im outta my league. THe RMS on this sub is 500watts and the Peak is 1000.

So where do i go from here? The only decient 500.1 amp i can find is made by JL and costs like $300! so i guess im thinkina 400.1 Pheonix Gold amp, but i dont know if that would make a difference.

and so know i need a HU to handle the amp and sub. I was thinkin Alpine somtin, around $150 or so.

can i get a little advice? dont really know where to go from here...

i have a alpine for sale but it requires a 4 chnl as well.
the deck doesnt have a output for anything without the amp

anyways i think a alpine is a good way to go but as for 150 its only a entry level alpine. currently there are older models on sale at circuit city. 189 for a 9827 which can play mp3's
i would mainly look for a radio with a sub output that way you can control the amount of gain or volume ur amp will be getting

the entry level is fine for me, i dont really see the need to a really nice unit. but the 9827 would work for me with this sub and the previous stated amp? its got the sub output, and it plays mp3s so it sounds good to me.

If you're trying to stay cheap and you're going to be using the head unit to power the internal speakers you really don't need 500w to the sub. I'd just get a small D-class sub amp that's 250-400w and get any halfway decent (Pioneer's Premier line is probably one of the better HU if you want to run the internal speakers off of it) head unit with 2+v pre-outs.

id rather go with a alpine since it does provide cleaner sound.
the pioneer is ok but for the price of one that plays mp3''s you cant beat the price of a last year alpine model. everything alpine related is on sale at circuit city since we will not be carrying it later this year.

Alpine's internal amp isn't anywhere near the quality of the Pioneer Premier units. This is because Alpine doesn't really care about it's internal amp as their target market is for those who use an amp. Their internal amp is a novelty more than anything, and they allow their name to sell it to those who will buy it because of the name. The Pioneer will sound better if you're running it off head unit power as they design it mainly for those who will use it for that purpose. I've heard both on the same systems and the Pioneer has always sounded better, but the Alpine has cleaner RCA outs.

ok, i kinda like the way Timeraceer is going, but dont fully understand how to go with the amp.

for th pioneer I think Im gonna go with the
PIONEER PREMIER DEH-P4700MP
and it has a sub output and plays mp3's circut city is out right now, but i'll wait till next week becuase its $179 with free installation.

so it has 4 50W channels and 2 sub outputs or are two of the channels sub outputs?

The DEH-P4700MP is the standard Pioneer model, btw, not the Premier. The Premier is the DEH-P470MP. Main difference? The Premier has a 2 year factory warranty (standard is 1 year) and about $50. Oh yeah, the Premier badge instead of Pioneer. Haha. If you're really looking for a deal, you can grab last year's DEH-P4600MP for pretty cheap at a lot of places. They're being clearanced out of most stores to make room for the 4700's. I know we blew ours out for 40% off of the clearance price, just to get rid of them. The internal amp has 3 levels, which is nicer than just an on/off loudness. It has 2 rca preouts.. front & rear. The rear preout can be switched to non-fading (sub) on the deck though.

i listened to the preimers and i still prefer alpine over both of them.
just get the radio and have it installed for free if you want. they charge you for the parts you need.

my suggestion is to listen to the radio's and pick whichever one you like the most since your the one that will be using it

everyone has their own preference but yours is the most impt

Aight, i thought about the Pioneer DEH-4700 for a while but then i went to circut city to check em out and after turning both the alpine and the pioneer, i think im goin with the Alpine, plus the guy said that he had a pioneer in his truck and was getting the newst alpine or somthin...plus it seemed a little easier user interface. and it was only $20 more, not to bad for better sound. Well im goin back wednsday to have them install it for free + wiring Thanks for the help guys, now i jus gotta find a place to install the sub and amp for less than $150.

well
circuit charges 50 to do the amp with the sub
you need to get the wiring though
you can prolly find a power kit on ebay for like 30 bucks
so its cheap
totally doable for 150

Yeah, most shops charge around $60 for labor to install an amp. So find a good deal on an amp kit and take it to a competent shop to do the install. Like spin r g 1/2 (lol) said, it's completely doable for around $150.
