Rear Speaker I want doesnt fit, what if i take out the trunk spring

I have a 2000 Prelude BTW
I want these Pioneer Premier 6x9 3 ways listed here:

http://cgi.ebay.com/aw-cgi/eBayISAPI...tem=1294444389

They do not fit my car because the mounting depth is massive, like 3 5/8". There will be room I believe if I take the truck spring bar out. Will anything bad happen if I take these out. Anyone think it will fit then? I believe the max mount depth for a 5 gen is 3" Any suggestions? Also I am interested in Pionner premier 6.5 components:

http://cgi.ebay.com/aw-cgi/eBayISAPI...tem=1294632563

Local Mobile one said they would fit but some places said it doesnt fit. They are 6.5" and I dont know the mounting depth. How hard is it to install components since they have the crossovers. I installed my deck with no probs at all, so i have some experience with car audio. Thank you and sorry it was so long

Forgot to add, the guy at mobile one said I need at least 50 watts to power components which means an amp is needed. Is he just trying to sell me something? I have a JC KD-SH99 now and it has 19 watts RMS. I do not listen to music very loud so I dont really see a need for an amp

The head unit that you have should be enough to power the speakers you are wanting to get

Your headunit should be enough to just drive the speakers but you'd most likely get a better signal and thus better quality sound with an amp .. plus it can be played louder without stressing your HU ...

Nothing bad will happen if you take out the trunk bars, and the speakers should fit fine after that. However, without those bars in there, the trunk will always be trying to close itself when you open it, so it falls on your head if you forget about it!!

The trunk gets heavy to hold without the trunks springs.

You can customize some sort of prop rod, like your hood has. shouldn't be real hard. I would suggest getting one off of a civic the real short ones. Make some kind of mounting bracket and make a grove in your trunk lid.

And by the way I hope you know what you are doing if you take out those trunk torsion bars. If you don't you are going to get a broken finger or hand or whatever they hit.
You need to exercise extreme caution while taking those out.
I have done many and the best way I have found is to get a big pair of vise-grips and clamp them very tight, while you take one side out of it's notch. The vise-grips will help you control them better with less strength. Make sure Make sure that the vise grips are clamped as tight as you can though, that will reduce the chance of those bars slipping out.

I don't mean to make a big deal about this, I just don't want you to get hurt.

Theres another way to solve the problem I've seen another lude have this done. If you take a look at the 94-96 accord trunks they do not have the bars to help lift the trunk lid they have those hydrolic lift things not sure what they're are called. But you can custom fit those to your trunk. Heres a picture its the black thing holding the trunk open in the bottom left corner.

I don't think those would work but I am going to look into that, those black things are just hydraulic shocks, they come alot of honda's I like those better than the torsion rods.

I had this problem too. I solved it by putting the stock stuff back in

But seriously, I had to make spacers out of fiberglass for my Pioneers when I had them in there (about an inch high) and also modify the speaker cover to allow them to be raised.

Cheers!
