Quick install question

I'm installing my front component set, and I need to tap into the stock wires to the woofer. (I ran wire from amp to head unit area and then tapped into the stock speaker wire there to avoid running wire through the door).

Anyways, there is a pair of red wires and a pair of brown wires. Am I correct in assuming the red is + and the brown is -? Also, does it matter? (since I assume DC offset from any signal from the amp would be 0)

Thanks
