power invertor... custom work.

I use my labtop in my car for gps. battery on the pc without a charge lasts about 2 hours 30 minutes literally.. since the gps sucks up all the battery juice... or basically my labtop sucks. Sometimes its even less than 40 minutes.

What do you think the cost would be to get a power inverter/convertor installed that would look a stock plug for my labtop. I would like the power convertor to be pretty stealth... and the socket mounted hidden somewhere on the passenger side, or maybe in the center console.

Any risks?

any ideas? Anyone ever install one?

I've installed plenty of inverters for customers, some stealth with custom plates, some just under the seats. As far as the cost of custom work, it totally depends on what you are looking for. The complexity of the job, and your requirements will determine what the installer/shop charge you. It's the same as installing an amp, which I believe you've done before... power wire ran to the battery, ground wire connected to the chasis. That will get the inverter powered and running, from there it depends on just how stealth/custom you want to get.

here is my power inverter and game kit install, the inverter is at the very front of the dash below the radio next to the fire wall, with the wires running back through the console.
