Are the Qs worth the $300 or more they cost over the Reference? What do you get for the extra $300? Mucho expensive.

the Q series has better components and they do sound better than the others. The question is do they sound better to you or would you be happy with the others.

The Referenz Series woofers have an ABS plastic fiberglass reinforced composite frame, 1" voice coil and standard ferrite magnet. The Q has a cast aluminum basket with fins to help dissipate heat from neodynium magnet and the voice coil. The tweeter is pretty much identical except the Q tweeter has a composite surround to give the tweeter more linearity and control.

Soundwise, it's pretty hard to tell, since they are both Quart systems and have similar characteristics off axis in the doors. However, if you are using kickpanels, keep it infinite baffle and use Referenz speakers instead of the Qs.

I could hear a big difference on sound board. The Q's had much less top-end emphasis and were overall much more pleasing to listen to. I don't think the Q's are worth the high price (I'd go a/d/s 346is in that price range) but they're still nice.

Possible, but there's always a chance that the tweeter attenuation circuit on the MUSiCOMP crossover were set differently. A soundboard is the worst place to demo speakers anyway. Ditto about the a/d/s stuff.

Q's are ok in the 400 range. i would prefre some focal 165ks or k2's in the high 300 range.

i think the tweeters are much brighter on the q's.with a little tuning, they sound pretty damn good though.whether it is worth the money is up to you though.
