New pics of my never-ending system build.

Alright guys...here are the pics of my trunk install. I saw Apocolypse's thread and it inspired me to do the same thing. Here goes:

Digital Designs 9012 (32lb magnet, 1350w power-handling, etc.); Autotek 1500w Class D mono amp on left, Autotek 75x4 at 4 ohm or 150x4 at 2 ohm mid/high amp on right.

Prep-work: masking taped the entire area that would be 'glassed and newspapered the rest; used vaseline as a release agent on the tape; nice leather couch eh?

Finished tub lying in the raw trunk.

Bottom and top of tub outside the car

We then cut a piece of MDF to serve as the top of the enclosure.
More coming...

Cont'd...

Test fit in the trunk.

The top 'glassed to the tub and the sub layed in there...and a free plug for Dan.

Raw amp rack cut from one piece of MDF

Amp rack with reinforcement and pedestals.

The tub, amp-rack, sub, and amps in the trunk. The amp rack and carpet panels will be covered in black heat moldable vinyl and a plexi-glass grill will be flush-mounted in that triangle with L.E.D.'s and all of that sillyness.
The whole point of this was to retain some usable trunk space while keeping a full-custom look. We also wanted a stealth install that was almost totally unnoticable from outside when the trunk is open.

So that's what my trunk looks like when not at a show. The cargo mat and a carpeted piece sits on top of the amp rack. Sounds pretty good too. Hope you guys enjoy and feel free to ask any questions.

Yeah man...we still need to meet up. Thanks, uhh...its not honestly. I've kinda put it on the back burner and I'm doing other stuff. Did you get a chance to see if you can get that 7998? If so let me know and I might start working on the H/U project again.

The HU project (projectS, actually. . .i'm doing the same thing) involves a stealthy way or moutning aftermarket equipment.

If I get tickets to THE game through the lottery, we should meet up while I'm up there.

I think you should cover the MDF wood with carpet or some sort of surface. It would also look awesome if you enclosed the top of the sub with some plexiglass, and maybe ridged up a lighting system. Just my opinion... awesome setup

Tim - Right on...let me know if you get tickets and we'll meet up.

Apocalypse - Yeah...we're both working on some stealthy installs. Most people only do the HU trick but I decided to go all out with the trunk and everything. When will it be finished? Uhh...never? You know how it is...you get it in there, it sounds really good and you kinda forget about it. It'll probably be close to finished this summer.

LilImportKid - Thanks alot man.

Mugenlude - Sounds awesome man...can't wait to see pics.

Uhh...I actually got a sweet deal on my 9012 because its a discontinued driver. But you're right, the 9512 which is a bit beefier than mine is about $550. It was expensive but it was worth it. Thanks for the compliment.

Umm...the radio goes in the stock location. Alright, here's the deal: traditionally people who do stealth HU installs will either install the HU in the stock space or maybe even recess it even more. Then you secure the faceplate for a stock HU in front of the a/market one. So to "passers-by" it looks like you have a stock HU. Well I have an in-dash screen and a HU so I have to be a smidge more creative. Uhh...stay tuned I guess.

ALOT. Umm...we did our best to cut down weight as much as possible but the sub is about 35lbs and the two amps add up to about 35lbs. The tub weighs basically nothing but the MDF probably weighs 20-30lbs. I think its probably close to 100lbs so I can definitely tell a difference in accelleration but as a bonus, we also made it so that if you know what to unscrew where, two people can remove the whole thing in about 5 minutes. If you don't know exactly how to get it out...uhh...it wouldn't matter whether you ruined the amps, sub, amp rack, or my car...you still couldn't get it out. So if I want to race or something, I just take it out. I'll tell you what though, I have a 1-2 finger gap in the rear and a 3-4 in the front. I have to get coil-overs now because the weight has caused the rear to dip and seesaw the front. It'll be fixed eventually.

Is there any other game? Sam's right, Bulldogs do OWN and I'm going to go ahead and say that they might win that game. Sam, I know you're from Atlanta, were you a Dawg fan while you were here or something?

Unless we play like we did 2 weeks ago, and you play like you did 2 weeks ago, I'm gonna have to concur on that point.

Oh yeah, I think I'm gonna go ahead and sell my entire setup. Hopefully, there will be a very large, very heavy item in my stocking that says "DOHC VTEC" on the top, and I need a way to pay santa for it.

Well hopefully we'll have a good game and noone will get hurt.
Awesome man...congrats! You'll be able to smoke me with the VTEC swap.

I'm sure you'll find about 800 4th gen. guys that want to buy your enclosure. BTW guys...don't hassle him about it until he posts that it is for sale.
