Need help wiring amp and sub

Im sure this had been asked before, but search failed me. Anyways Im installing a sub and amp in my 5th gen but ive been trying to figure out how to run the power cable for the amp. It needs to be hooked to the battery, I know, but Im having trouble getting it through the firewall and dash. Also my friend mentioned that i shouldn't let the wires for the sub get too close to the other wires of the other speakers, something about interference. Im freakin confused, can somebody help me wire this thing?

For the power wire, there is a large grommet right behind/ lower than the fuse box. Take the top off of the box (there is no need to remove the whole thing) and you can poke a wire thought the grommet. It comes out under the dash on the passenger side.

As far as interference from wiring, make sure that you keep your RCA cables away from your power and ground cables. The RCA's will pick up interference if run next to the ground, which will then be amplified along with your audio signal running though that cable. It will cause a squeal the gets louder/ higher pitched the higher your engine rpm go.

hey ive got a fifth generation prelude and i recently installed my own system as well. i gave up trying to run the power cable through the firewall and i ended up running it along the oustide next to the fender and through the gap close to the passenger side door. from there it runs directly under the carpet back to the amp. the power wire sits nicely inside the door jam and does not catch or get crimped when the door is closed. im new on here but if you tell me how i can upload a few pics of exactly what i did. i know its not a super clean install but it worked nicely and it was a hell of a lot easier than messing with the firewall. as for the audio wires the best thing to do is to run them on the complete opposite side of the car. so the power wire runs back the passenger side to the trunk and the audio wires run from your head unit back along the drivers side to the trunk.

nah thats ok about the pictures, I just ran it today. wasnt that hard. I dud unscrew the fuse box to shove the wire through easier (just one screw and two clips) and it worked perfectly. Im going to hook it all up tomorrow or Thursday. Ill post beck if I have any trouble. And thanks for the tip on running them through the car, thats wat I was thinking. Thanks for the help both of you.

I fed it through the grommet a few years back now, but I do remember it being a bit of a *****. Either my cable was heavier gauge then I needed or the cable itself was made of something a little too sticky as it just wouldn't slide in with the other cables. Had to inch it along little by little - very tedious. If I had to do it again I'd give it a thin coat of lithium grease to help it along. Just a tip for anyone else attempting this.
