just picked up the new alpine cda-9885

I installed it in my 5th gen. I was hoping the amber lights would match closer to the stock ones but the Alpine lights are more red and don't really match. It's a nice unit but I dont like the clumsy way the faceplate comes off, and the install is tricky as well. The menu's are easy enough to navigate through and the sound is nice. 3 sets of pre outs and Ipod connections too. I must say, I had a pioneer DEH-P8000R. The radio tuner on the pioneer was apparently excellent. Radio stations that would come in at my house, albeit with some static; didnt even come in on the Alpine. Another radio station that would come in pretty well also had static constantly even though I was in the city and when the older Pioneer would tune it crystal clear. I think the difference is that the Pioneer was like $650 in 1997 and this Alpine was only $279 in 2007. I guess you get what you pay for..anyway, I just thought I'd share...Anyone install the accord pocket with the door?

After the 9835 they have lost quality, this is from personal experience, I have the 9835 and its amazing, and I dont think I'll ever get rid of it.. and the 9855 my ex had was just a piece of ****, she paid so much more than me too

I was looking at getting a new alpine unit.. however based on what everyone's saying about them, I think i'm going to pass. I'm looking now at the DEH-7800mp or the 880mp. I dont know yet lol
