is there a cheap, quick, and efficient way to make an aux input on the stock 5th gen sound system? I would like to be able to hook up an iPod without having to buy a special faceplate-receiver..
You can buy a cable that plugs into the OEM cd changer input at the back of your stock CD deck. I've got one and it's just super. I got the idea from Dan (soccer3303). Do a search for further deets.
Roll with the first option. It's quicker to use the click wheel to get to the 500th song on your ipod than it is to click the fast forward button 500 times on your cd player
so basically I would be paying $70 bucks extra just to have my car stereo buttons control the iPod.. riiight..
Yes, which is awesome in cars with steering wheel audio controls. Too bad preludes don't have those. It also is a more easy install; Truely plug & play. With the option above it, you have to plug in the harness and also tap accessory power and ground for the add-on charging audio cable.
