Help Wanted: Got my brother's used 10" MTX and Amp (Thunder 405) it's a 5-way amp, but im only using it for the sub till I get money for speakers. So, i need wiring for the Amp and sub, i think I'll just need Rca cables and Amp wiring. Is this correct? I'm deffinately into getting my Bang for the Buck, the cheaper, while retaining quality, the better (especially when you're 16) Here are some listings I'm looking at. Suggestions? Reviews? Thanks in advance.
Great, thanks for that deal! My brother and I will be installing it soon (he's done it before). Now, is there any installation information i should know about? Specific things to the gen. 4 Prelude? ie: firewall hole location, or how ill hook the rca cables to the head unit, etc..
There's a rubber grommet near the middle of the firewall on the passenger's side of the car. Move the fusebox out of the way and you should see it pretty easily. Cut a small slice in the rubber, then stuff your amp wire through there. It'll come out on the inside of the car behind the dash on the passenger's side. It can be kinda tricky to get to, so be patient.
The factory headunit does not have RCA outputs. The amplifier may have speaker-level inputs, which allow you to use the speaker wires for signal. If the amp only has RCA inputs, you will need a speaker-to-RCA convertor, which run about $20.
Hmm, didn't realize that (first sub.). I looked at the Amp and it appears that there are only RCA plug-ins. Where Might i buy a Speaker-to-RCA converter? KnuKonceptz.com? or is there a local dealer that might have comparable pricing?
Got one at my local electronics store $16.07 total, got my wiring, amp and sub, I'm Set! i was checking out how to run the wires yesterday evening, super easy with my console that run the whole lenght of the car, a few screws and its gone, its gonna go well. Thanks for all the info guys, GL
