How to use channel 2 on the Viper alarms?

Hey guys. I will probably be buying the Viper 3000... http://www.drdetailshop.com/V3000.htm

I want to use channel 2 on the alarm (the AUX button on the 4-way remote) to open my garage door. Is it possible to use my alarm's remote to control the garage door in this way? If so, how does the remote "learn" my garage door's frequency/code? Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks!

With the info you gave, No.

More info would help.

what kind of garage door opener do you have?
Is it one with a rolling/changing code?
What kind of remote do you have?
Can it learn frequencies?

Well, apparently there is some sort of device I'm suppose to buy for $150, http://www.directed.com/security/access/haccess.asp I wonder why it's necessary to buy this garage door control unit, seeems like the remote should be able to send a signal to the garage door without one. Maybe the remote can only send signals within a certain band, so you need a control unit hard wired into the garage door opener to recieve the signal from the remote and tell the garage door when to open/close.

Does anyone understand how this is suppose to work? I may just call a big installer in my area and ask them about it. Thanks.

While I haven't personally installed the garage door interface, I know that the viper remote cannot be reprogrammed to transmit to a garage door opener. The frequencies that constantly change are only to interact with the alarm brain. The garage door interface is more likely a separate transmitter that is able to learn your garage door remote's frequency and replicate it, when triggered by the alarm's aux channel.
