how to install alarm with a turbo timer?

ok i am alil stumped sort of on this

i know the turbo timer needs the ignition/acessory wire to keep the car on....

the alarm if it sense's the ignition on will go off or wont even arm

i was thinking of using a diode and cut the wire so that its
starter........ignition wire.....alarm wire....ignition wire....diode.....ignition wire....then turbo timer.....

this is the ignition wire is like 14-16 gauge while my diods are only ment for 1 amp

i am wondering if anyone knows a different way...

how long are you planning on running your TT? for short trips around town, i keep mine at 30 secs and 60 secs for minor freeway travel. i cannot walk far enough in 60 seconds to be too far away for the alarm to arm. not saying that you should not do this, because i do understand, but i am saying that i do not feel that is any big deal to be patient for 30-60 seconds. also, there may be a function on your alarm that arms it automatically. i used to have a truck with an alarm. the alarm would automatically arm something like 60 secs after the key was removed and the doors were closed. i have never looked into it on mine, but i have always wondered.

FYI. i just read the owner's manual for my alarm (2.5 years later). it says that it does have an autoarm/lock feature that i just need to select. it has a delay 30 secs after i remove key and close driver's door. it also has a built in turbo timer, which is super cool, but means that i wasted a grip on the TT. so, anyway, check your owner's manual on the alarm. by the way, i have a clifford intelliguard 6000, just in case it matters.
rock!!!

I just set my remote start for a few minutes and use that as my turbo timer, either that or the easy way is what jitsu said

My compustar has it as well. Best accessory I bought with my car turbo timer, locks the doors/arms 30 seconds after I close the door .. its great.

I say skip the accessories and get a clifford or all in one for anybody in the future who reads this ... door locks, arming, hood/trunk pins, optional motion sensor, 2way alarm so you can get a status on the remote if the car is running or not ...

it HAS to be worth the money to upgrade from a standard alarm.
