Help with amp

Hey all, so about a couple of weeks ago I bought an amplifier, and a sub-woofer and set everything up. Long story short, the amp is no longer turning on, I used a light tester on the amp, the wire from radio to amp turns on (I believe it is called the remote wire), the wire from battery turns on and the ground turns on (by the way, when saying turns on, I mean the light on the light tester turns on). So now here is my dilemma, I have no clue what could be wrong with the amp, any ideas would be helpful, right or wrong I don't care, at least you tried

1) Double check your ground, make sure it has a solid contact.
2) Check the fuses in the amp.
3) If you have one, swap another amp in place of the dead amp and see if it works. If yes, then your amp is the problem. If no, then you have a wiring issue.

When I had that same problem, it was because my ground wire was backing its way out of the crimped on terminal, creating a weak contact. If you are sure you have a good ground, give the other things I mentioned a try.

^^
Make sure your wiring is not "pulling" to get to where it is. This is bad mexi-wiring that WILL kill your amp. I will say checking all fuses is a good idea, and another amp testing would be a good idea too. its always hard to tell if an amp's dead unless you have a non-car power source to test it on. Fairly simple but can be a pain to rig something up

believe it or not

not having the correct setup matching the specs on speakers & amps will blow them

amps vs speakers

examples
big amp(900rms) + small subs(400rms)=blown subs

small amp(500rms)+big subs(1200rms)=blown amp

hope that explains something to yall

^That is both irrelevant to this dead thread and untrue.

Distortion kills speakers and heat kills amps. Neither has much if anything to do with wattage.

I've already done my research many times over....sounds like you haven't.
