gadget install questions

i feel this is the more appropriate forum to ask about this kind of stuff -

in the past ihad 3 gauges and a tach, and i was blowing fuses and headlights due to a hack job install. so this time i want to get it right.

i'm going to be installing a tach and 7 gauges, turbo timer, rev/speed meter and maybe other things too.

i'd like the gauges to light up with the dims. I'd also like to have a switch that can turn them all off even if the headlights are on (to not attract attention).

can i run all the illumination wires from the same wire source? where is this source?

what type of switch do i need, and how do i wire it?

i probably should run a power line from the battery for everything, right? what size wire should be used? what size fuse should be used and where should it be placed? where should i ground?

thanks in advance

you can get the power from under the dash in the harness
might as well run all the wires under there, that way they'll be less comections
and you can put the switch on the wire that goes to illumination wire on the radio harness
