front bass question

i have two amps. one for my speakers and one for my subs. a question i had is, i only feel bass from the subs and not anything at all from my speakers. i know the speakers arent supposed to have bass but usually they have at least a little bass to make me feel more surrounded in bass. like in a stock car, the speakers give out a tiny bit of bass but in my car, only the subs give off bass which makes it feel like all the bass is coming from behind me. is that the way its supposed to be? can i adjust it some how?

What frequency do you have your front speakers crossed over at?

im so lost on all this audio stuff. how could i find out? btw, my friend told me that the reason i dont get bass in the front is because the amp filters the signal out.

it filters the signal depending on where you havet he crossover set
look on the amp and see where your numbers are set at

Yeah, check the cross-over settings on the amp. They control what frequencies get filtered out. Chances are your front speakers are on a "hi-pass" setting that's adjust a little too high, and it's eliminating all the low stuff. You do want to hi-pass the stuff your sub is taking care of, since the smaller fronts obviously won't be as efficient at dumping out the lows, but at the same time you don't want to lose any mid-bass.

just wanted to reply. i messed with my amps a little bit and i lowered the cross over a little and i get much better response from the front. the fronts give out a bit of bass which is exactly what i wanted and i feel like my subs in the back are much sharper and cleaner sounding.
