Done with Clifford... need advice.

I bought my alarm a few years ago through Ultimate Electronics. It's some variation of the Clifford 2 way pager alarm. It's not a 2.5x and it's not an RS3. Turns out UE didn't quite give me the alarm they said they did, after further inspection, and I've been having trouble with it.

After 4 pagers malfunctioning (read:completely dead, for no reason, not dropped or anything) and 2 brains malfunctioning, and $1100+ later, I still don't have a working alarm. UE is out of business here and the closest store is in Oklahoma and they won't honor my warranty (like the local stores did), and instead gave me the number to the warranty company that wants nothing to do with me. Keep in mind I purchased a 5 year warranty, so this would be much easier had they not gone out of business all through Texas and where else they left.

My 3 questions are:

1. I am going to uninstall this alarm myself. How hard is it to do that? (I just don't have the money right now to pay someone to do it for me, I've spent too much on programming these damn remotes and what not.)

2. What alarms are some of you guys running that are RELIABLE. I have heard a million bad things about Clifford, and DEI in general. I need something reliable. I don't care about fancy anymore. A siren, ability to use back up battery and piezos, plus ignition kill and keyless entry are all I really need.

3. And is uninstalling this old one and getting a new one possible for a first time alarm installer like me? I am pretty handy and like to do as much work on my car myself as I can, and I love learning how to do new work... so someone give me some advice.

Sorry for the long post. This has been a long frustrating journey with my alarm situation. All advice and criticism welcome

Thanks.

My cliffords that I've had have been reliable...and I can show you how to program the remotes if you have the clifford responder 2way alarms.... it takes 2 seconds. I think you just had a bad alarm....
Uninstall shoulkdnt' be too difficult...but I'm sure someone in TX on PO can help ya out with the wiring. But it won't hurt to take a look down there .. i'm sure Dr. Chilton can figure it out.

IM me when you get a chance, i'll help you out.

Thanks, I'll shoot you an IM later. Yeah well originally it was the remote that was broken. They actually just stopped even lighting up. Now it's my brain. It was making this weird surging noise the other night, and I pulled off the radio to take a look and it was acting up. Now nothing works. I checked fuses. I think it's a bad brain.

^Sure, I'll try to get around to that this week. I mean the thing is f*cking dead. So it doesn't really matter. The new remote works fine, but the brain is toast.

I've never encountered a clifford alarm that was a lemon like yours. Strange.
